Hanging out with someone new
Come on, dude, I can't believe who
Did it hurt? Oh yes, it hurt
But not as much as I thought it would
Guess it's time for me to move on
Closer to closure (closer to closure)
Every day's closer (closer, close)
Closer to closure (closer to closure)
I finally took your pictures down
And all that other stuff I found
Hidden somewhere in my closet
I used to wear your shirt to bed
But now it's in the trash instead
I don't want to be reminded, no, no
I'm getting closer (closer, close)
Closer to closure (closer to closure)
Every day's closer (closer, close)
Closer to closure (closer to closure)
I saw you today taking my breath away
But then you opened your mouth without thinking
And then I recalled why I ended it all
And it makes me feel good about leaving, leaving
Mmm
Everyday, everyday, everyday
Everyday, everyday, everyday, everyday
I'm getting closer
I'm getting closer (closer, close)
Closer to closure (closer to closure)
Every day's closer (closer, close)
Closer to closure (closer to closure)
The song “Closure” by Aly & AJ is a powerful anthem about moving on and finding closure after a painful breakup. The opening verse describes the singer running into her ex with someone else and feeling shocked and hurt. The chorus emphasizes her determination to move on, as she gets closer and closer to closure every day. The second verse shows her actively taking steps to distance herself from the relationship, by removing reminders of her ex from her space and discarding things that remind her of him.
The bridge takes an interesting turn, as the singer admits to being momentarily taken aback by her ex’s appearance, but then remembers why they broke up in the first place. This realization makes her feel good about her decision to leave the relationship behind and move on with her life.
Overall, “Closure” is a relatable and empowering song about ending a chapter in your life and moving forward with strength and self-assurance.
