The experience convinced her that she wanted to be in a band and that she wanted the band to control its own destiny. For the past couple of years she has worked and performed with her long-term collaborator and partner in 'Amanda Ghost', Ian Dench, himself a songwriter with an international reputation as writer of the punk standard 'Unbelievable', a worldwide hit for EMF, of which Ian was the guitarist and founder member. Amanda has enjoyed huge success in 2005/6 as co-writer of James Blunt’s worldwide hit “You’re Beautiful” and tracks on his “Back To Bedlam” album and this has raised her profile ahead of the band’s release of its first album, scheduled for Autumn 2006 on their own label, Plan A Records.
“It's no surprise that she is the machination of popular genius behind James Blunt; Amanda is a commanding singer and a very talented song writer” - Antony (and The Johnsons), March 2006
The album release will be preceded by 2 EPs, the first of which is a limited edition 4 tracker entitled 'Blood On The Line', produced by Dave McCracken (Depeche Mode/Ian Brown) and featuring live performance band members Richie Stevens (drums/percussion) and Hide (bass). Amanda-Ghost.com
Silver Lining
Amanda Ghost Lyrics

Charmed by the sentimental brave
I hear the door slam I look the other way
I hate the small talk and the empty days
Silver lining, I bathe in your light
I'll always believe in your place in my life
Silver lining, I know that I'm right
Scared of the things that people say
Knowing my confidence might fail
I feel the worlds weight upon my breaking back
I see uncertainty and the visible cracks
Silver lining, I bathe in your light
I'll always believe in your place in my life
Silver lining, I know that I'm right
I'll always believe in your right to shine
Silver lining, I bathe in your light
I'll always believe in your place in my life
Silver lining, I know that I'm right
I'll always believe in your right to shine
In "Silver Lining" by Amanda Ghost, the opening lines speak of the attraction to change despite the often unsettling qualities that accompany it. Amanda Ghost appears to be drawn towards risky and uncertain changes, which she describes as "violence." She also mentions being charmed by the "sentimental brave," which may refer to a certain type of person who takes on bold actions with an emotional openness. Nevertheless, despite her attraction to change, she dislikes the mundanity of small talk and uneventful days. She then begins to talk about a "silver lining," a glimmer of hope that appears amidst the darkness, perhaps representing a person or object that uplifts and inspires her. The repetition of the phrase throughout the song emphasizes the importance of believing in something positive to overcome challenging times.
The following verse speaks of Amanda Ghost being fearful of what others say and insecure in her own confidence, feeling as though the world's weight is on her "breaking back." "Uncertainty and the visible cracks" suggest her own weaknesses and vulnerabilities, which may be exacerbated by external criticism. However, the "silver lining" provides her with a sense of stability and optimism, as she bathes in its light and believes in its place in her life. The song's chorus reinforces the theme of hope, declaring a steadfast faith in the "silver lining's" right to shine.
