Into Your Heart
Amazing Transparent Man Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She slips out of bed.
It's 6 in the morning.
She kisses my head
Without even a warning.

She thinks I'm sleeping.
But I watch her slowly dress.
I rot from the inside.
How could she love this mess?

The blackness I dive,
I'm buried alive.
Been driving since 1995.
But you dug me up to breathe.

My hand over flame.
This cauterized vein.
I stumble back down the slop again.
But you pull me back to breathe.

Into your heart.

How can I show
What you've have done for me?
You'll never know
Your smile has saved me.

So I wrote these fucked up songs.
Obscure so you'll never guess.
I rot from the inside.
How could she love this mess?

The blackness I dive,
I'm buried alive.
Been driving since 1995.
But you dug me up to breathe.

My hand over flame.
This cauterized vein.
I stumble back down the slop again.
But you pull me back to breathe.

Into your heart.

Overall Meaning

The opening lines of 'Into Your Heart' by Amazing Transparent Man describe the singer's partner getting up early in the morning and kissing him on the head without warning. The singer is awake, but pretending to be asleep, and watches her slowly dress. He feels rotten inside, wondering how she could possibly love him when he is such a mess. The darkness swirls around him, and he admits to feeling buried alive. He sings of driving since 1995, but being dug up to breathe by his partner. While he has stumbled and fallen, and burnt himself over and over, she has pulled him back to breathe.

The second verse of 'Into Your Heart' is about the singer's gratitude to his partner. He feels saved by her smile, but doesn't know how to express it. He has written songs to express his feelings, but has done so in an obscure and cryptic way. He sings again about the darkness he dives into, and his feeling of being buried alive. However, he knows that his partner will pull him back to breathe into her heart.

The lyrics to 'Into Your Heart' exude a sense of gratitude and vulnerability. The singer's sense of being saved by his partner is conveyed poignantly. The way he discounts his own self-worth adds a sense of realism to the lyrics. Both the melody and the instrumentation are catchy, adding to the overall emotional impact of the song.

To honor one of the best (and my personal favorite) host sketches, this was my best attempt to transcribe the llama sketch. Keep in mind at the end Crow's screeches make it hard to hear Servo so I probably got some of it wrong.

Servo: "So you folks wanna touch the llama ‘uh? That’s righ’ ‘uh. Yah wanna touch this ol’ llama? You just go ‘ight ‘head. You can touch the ol’ llama all you want. You can touch the llama all night till hell freezes over! Hahaha! Not me though. Nah-aw. No sir-re-bob. I wouldn’t touch the ol’ thing. Llama hasn’t been feeling so good. Whew! Smells funny too. Whoa! Smells really kinda rank, yah know? But you can touch it if yah want. Ehehe. Ain’t no law says you can’t. Ain’t that right, Mikey? Ain’t theres no laws that say folks can’t touch this smelly ol’ llama if they want? Huh, Mikey, huh?"

Mike: "You people bring matches for Mikey?"

Servo: "You shut up Mikey, you shut up! You folks don't give no matches to Mikey! Ya hear me?! Ya hear me?! I don't care what Mikey say or Mikey do! Don't give 'im no matches! I don't care if Mikey ends up crawlin' in through yer window stark naked with a big ol' knife! Don't you give no matches to Mikey! Don't you give 'im no matches! Shut up, Mikey! Shut up, llama! Just shut up! Don't give 'im no matches! No matches to Mikey! Shut up, Mikey!"

@68Charger Thank you for correcting! Have not read that book in 25 years not too bad of memory lol

@59th Survivor of VHS The book is by 'John' Steinbeck, not George, but I see the connection between the story and the skit. Nice observation.

"Of Mice and Men" By George Steinbeck, Mike dressed up like Lennie Small petting the (rabbit) or Llama to death. I could not help but think this sketch was influenced by that great book.
