The Best Mistake
Amber Pacific Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Hit me like a house on fire,
I felt, a rush come over me.
Just like, my favorite melody.
I sing when I feel inspired
A night out, and caught off guard
I admit, I don't deserve this
But I know it'll all be worth it.
[Pre-chorus:]
Just so many things that I wish I could say to you
But I know you never tried,
Too far gone to wonder why
Would we ever make things right
[Chorus:]
We used to be...
A perfect harmony,
But all I see
Was you cam recorded on the T.V. screen
At times I think...
This was all a dream
And it's no lie,
You were the best mistake
And I'll love you til the day I die.
What you did, yeah it kills inside
I can't believe everything I'll find
It sent, a shot right through me
Just like our favorite movie,
With every song that we used to sing,
T.S.L. and The Best of Me
Is now another story
Drawn out and feeling lonely
[Pre-chorus]
[Chorus]
I want you but I don't know why
Just so many things that I wish I could say to you
But I know you never tried,
Too far gone to wonder why
[Ending Chorus:]
We used to be...
A perfect harmony,
But all I see
Was you cam recorded on the T.V. screen
At times I think...
This was all a dream
And it's no lie,
You were the best mistake
And I'll love you but I don't know why [x2]
The lyrics to Amber Pacific's song The Best Mistake speak about an individual who has been hit hard by something that was said to them the night before. The lyrics state, "I saw what you said last night, Hit me like a house on fire." The individual feels a rush come over them as though they are listening to their favorite melody. The person feels inspired to sing, acknowledging that they do not deserve the pain that they are going through. Despite this, the individual believes that the pain and hurt will eventually be worth it.
The lyrics in the chorus mention that the two individuals were once a perfect harmony, like a melody that blends together flawlessly. However, this harmony is now a thing of the past after the betrayal and hurt that has transpired. The song acknowledges that this hurt that the individual is feeling could be a dream but knows it is no lie. The line "You were the best mistake, and I'll love you til the day I die" portrays love that exists despite the pain and hurt, even if the reason behind the love is unclear.
Overall, the song portrays the pain and hurt that individuals experience when they lose the trust of someone they once loved. Despite this pain, the song acknowledges that love can still exist, even when the reason for that love is unclear.
