Would You?
Amber Pacific Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Didn't have to go, didn't have to go
I broke a promise to be honest, now I'm leaving
All I've ever known, all I've ever known
An empty space inside, a cold and sleepless night
And I can't, I cannot get you off my mind
Chorus
Our love was enough to carry you?
Would you face the truth if it meant
That you would have to follow through?
Every moment that we made fades away
It's not too late to turn the other way
I put my heart in being sober but it's over
Never meant to, I never meant to hurt you
I saw this coming, now you're running
And I'm wishing I could hold you
Something that I can't do
An empty space inside, a cold and sleepless night
And I can't, I cannot get you off my mind
Chorus
It's not too late for you to change
I'll turn away
The lyrics to Amber Pacific's song "Would You" explore the aftermath of a failed relationship and the regret and longing that comes with it. The first verse suggests that the singer feels guilty for breaking a promise and leaving someone they cared about. They acknowledge the emptiness and sleeplessness they now experience, unable to stop thinking about the person they left behind.
The chorus poses a series of questions to the person they left, asking if they would give up their current situation if their love was enough to sustain them. It also asks if they would be willing to face the truth and follow through on their feelings, despite the pain it may cause. The lyrics imply that the moments and memories they shared are fading away, but it is not too late to change direction and choose a different path.
In the second verse, the singer reflects on how they tried to find solace and purpose in sobriety, but it ultimately led them to the end of the relationship. They acknowledge that they never intended to hurt the other person and that they saw this outcome coming. They express their desire to hold onto them, but they know it is something they cannot do.
The chorus is repeated again, emphasizing the plea for the person left behind to consider making a change. The lines "It's not too late for you to change, I'll turn away" suggest that the singer is willing to step back and allow the other person to decide what they want, even if it means being apart.
Overall, the lyrics of "Would You" delve into the emotions of regret, longing, and the hope for a second chance in a failed relationship. The song invites introspection about the choices made and the possibility of finding forgiveness and a new direction.
