1) AMEN is a cross-genre rock band mainly taking influence from 1980s hardcore, punk rock and black metal. They have had a number of different band members, with lead vocalist Casey Chaos the only surviving member of the original lineup. They had been voted "Overall Best Band in the World" and "Best Live Band in the World" by readers of Metal Hammer Magazine. Like iconic industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails, the band's music and lyrics are written entirely by the frontman, who also performs all instruments for studio recordings except for drums which are played by Shannon Larkin.
Early recordings were created in 1994 by Casey Chaos in the basement of his Los Angeles home, playing each instrument himself and using the name Amen to release the subsequent EP. Chaos later met Paul Figueroa through the LA music scene, and they formed a partnership. In the following months and years, the band expanded to include drummer Shannon Larkin, guitarist Sonny Mayo and bassist John Fahnestock, and they were signed to metal label Roadrunner Records.
Following the release of their eponymous album, produced by Ross Robinson, the band were set to tour Europe in December of 1999. This did not happen, with the band blaming a last-minute withdrawal of funding shortly prior to departure. Following this incident, Amen and Roadrunner went their separate ways. Subsequently several band members left, accompanied by a perceived drop in popularity. Chaos was helped out by friend Daron Malakian, whom he had met while both Amen and Malakian's band System of a Down were touring Australia as part of the Big Day Out music festival. Amen were the first band signed to Malakian's EatUrMusic label, and their subsequent release, Death Before Musick, was regarded as being a mild commercial success.
The 2005 tour supporting the album Death Before Musick was postponed when Chaos was rushed into hospital. Apparently against medical advice the tour was restarted a couple of months late.
At the last few shows the band played during 2005 they performed a couple of new songs.

Amen Lyrics

All together we're gonna get an ending
Fly heap reap season
Wrapped arms embracing no reason
It was the right time of the law
On the wrong side of the track
It wasn't what? The laughter
Like the time before mining
On the sores of 1964
It was the right time of the law
On the wrong side of the track
You never were my friend
It's like a curse and you know
When the children grow up
They will never have to sow
You teach what is taught
But the lessons that you learn
Tear you apart
When the money grows
You too will shine
When the fortune grows
Who's gonna rise
Do you know the name?
When you're on the fame?
Do you know the name?
When your names in lights
Black sheep cum rising
All together we're gonna get an ending
Black sheep what do you know?
What do you?
Swinging around
Like a monkey in a fucking zoo
You see that money
Grow money's gonna bury you
You're on the rise again you're only after
The run is after you it's all to sin
Do you know the name
When you're on fame
What do you know
What do you know
What do you
What do you
Why do you
Why do you
Swinging around
Like a monkey in a fucking zoo
You see that money grow
Money's gonna fuck you son
The song "Monkey" by Amen is a powerful and intense critique of fame, fortune and greed. The lyrics evoke images of black sheep rising and people coming together to face an uncertain ending. The song speaks to the idea that we are all in this together and that we must embrace each other without reason - not just when times are good.
The opening lines of the song speak to the idea of a rising tide and how we must all come together to face its effects. The lyrics suggest that there is power in numbers and that no one can stand alone in the face of such forces. As the song progresses, the lyrics become more specific and pointed, calling out those who seek fame and fortune for their own personal gain at the expense of others. The chorus speaks to the idea that money is a curse and that those who seek it will ultimately be consumed by it.
The song also touches on themes of betrayal and loss. The lyrics suggest that those who seek fame and fortune will often abandon their friends and loved ones in the process. There is a sense of bitterness and regret to the lyrics, as if the singer has seen firsthand the damage that money and fame can do to people's lives.
Overall, "Monkey" is a powerful and insightful critique of our society's obsession with fame and fortune. The lyrics are dark and intense, but they also contain a message of hope and unity. The song is a call to action, urging us to come together and hold onto the things that truly matter in life.
