wave
America And Britain [Hetalia Mmd] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sometimes when I'm down on my luck, feelin' dizzy
My mind reels back to those days in the city
When early in the morning take a trip, it's so pretty
I could never understand why it wasn't so grand

I got a hankerin' for a wind wave
I got it through and through
I got a hankerin' for somethin' home made
It's got to be brand new

Early in the morning when the sun comes up
I'm gonna grab a fishin' pole and a sleepin' bag roll
Head out for the land of the dumb but the pretty
I won't stay long but you never know

I got a hankerin' for a wind wave
I got it through and through
I got a hankerin' for somethin' home made
It's got to be brand new

I got a hankerin' for a wind wave
I got it through and through
I got a hankerin' for somethin' home made
It's got to be brand new

Sometimes when I'm down on my luck, feelin' dizzy
My mind reels back to those days in the city
Sometimes when I'm down on my luck, feelin' dizzy
My mind reels back to those days in the city

Sometimes when I'm down on my luck, feelin' dizzy
My mind reels back to those days in the city ...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to "Wave" by America And Britain [Hetalia Mmd] are about nostalgia and the longing for simpler times. The singer reminisces about the days when they would take early morning trips into the city, but they were never quite sure why it wasn't as grand as they thought it should be. The chorus of the song speaks to the singer's desire for a "wind wave," which seems to be a metaphor for something that is both elusive and refreshing, like a cool breeze on a hot day.

Ahh you want oppressive deserts to the West?

How about choking humidity towards the East?

The North has snow (what’s that?) I don’t know I’m Texan.

What about an arid wasteland to the South?

@nateman10 Don't try to put all the blame on "California's far left environmentalists". It is widely known in California that forest fires are beneficial and necessary for the Redwood forests. For example, Redwood pinecones only drop their seeds when they get heated and dried by a forest fire, Redwood bark is mostly fireproof, and if a Redwood tree does die (in a fire or otherwise), a circle of new trunks sprouts up in a ring from the root system of the dead trunk (that one is specifically the coastal redwood, I don't think the giant sequoia does that). Redwood trees are able to grow in huge forests in California and basically nowhere else because of the special climate and somewhat common fires.

However, the U.S. federal government owns nearly 60 percent of the forests that cover one-third of California and for the past 100 years federal policy has been to put out forest fires as quickly as possible rather than let nature take its course.

The result is thicker forests that are just waiting to go up in flames.

The Camp Fire began in National Forest Service land so, if anything, blame out-of-touch federal government environmentalists, not California ones.

Additionally, old clear-cut logging operations in some areas changed forest composition from slower-growing fire resistant Redwood monocultures to easy to burn fast-growing pines, oaks, and other trees.
If you have ever seen a full old-growth Redwood forest, you would know that there is nearly no underbrush in them. The fire resistance and incredible height of Redwoods causes them to eventually out-compete every other tree and plant type in large areas, and they leave the forest floor in permanent shade. There is also no way for a fire in that type of area to jump from a slow moving floor fire to a swift crown fire that is propelled at maximum wind speed. The lowest branch on an old Redwood tree is way above the reach of any fire on the forest floor, and as mentioned, Redwood bark is highly fire-resistant, so the fire cannot climb the trunks to get to the actually flammable needles.

When Europeans complain about how the United States uses too much air conditioning, you can be assured they have not traveled far and wide within the States.

@Karin Ross phoenix is the worst. My grandparents lived there. Visited for two weeks and it was 110+ the entire time except for the last 2 days when it rained harder than I had ever seen any rain ever rain and then everything flooded. You can keep that dumpster fire weather. I live in Sacramento. It gets over 110 here too but Phoenix is a whole nother nightmare.

@K Kr I have no doubt. My brother-in-law moved here from North Dakota in the 40's, no AC. They spent their days in the water. I can imagine how hard it would be for a newborn child way back at the turn of the century. Next week it will be 116 and we probably won't be below 100 for the next few months. I hope the AC is fixed by then. 🥵🌡️🔥 I'm melting. Also thanks for sharing your story. I appreciate historical facts from the people who actually know. In fact, I treasure them. Thanks again! 🌵🏜️

@Magravator Summer of 1916 a relative of mine was born in Glendale, AZ. The poor baby couldn't breathe until he was put in a basin of cool water.
