In 2005, Amerie burst back onto the music scene with her fourth single "1 Thing", which was used as the theme song for the Will Smith movie "Hitch". "1 Thing" went to the top of the charts in various international markets, including the US, UK and others around the world. It earned her a Grammy nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (the album "Touch" was also nominated for the "Best Contemporary R&B Album" Grammy ). The album sold an estimated 800,000 copies worldwide and went gold in the US and silver in the UK.
Amerie's third album 'Because I Love It' was released in the UK , Europe and Asia in 2007. The single "Take Control" was released in October 2006, and it enjoyed international success. The second single "Gotta Work" did not fare as well in the charts, despite receiving heavy airplay on UK and European music video channels. The album has sold a combined total of 310,000 copies worldwide and is her most critically acclaimed album.
In late 2007, was reported that Amerie had left her label Columbia Records, and signed with the Island Def Jam Music Group.
Amerie revealed the album title to be changed from 'Breakups To Makeups' to 'In Love & War'. Amerie also announced that her first single off the album will be titled "Why R U?" produced by The Buchanans. The single premiered online in the week of May 11th and received fairly mixed reviews. The track itself is even compared to Mary J. Blige's "What's The 411?" and "My Life" album, because of the old school feel.
Amerie changed her artist name to Ameriie (extra I) in 2010. She said that it gave her more positive energy as an artist. She changed her artist name back to Amerie (without the extra I) with the double EP releases '4AM Mulholland' and 'After 4AM' in 2018.
Right now her main focus is on books, youtube channel and her son and husband.
Why Don't We Fall In Love
Amerie Lyrics

So much that I wanna do
It startin' to become so clear to me
Tomorrow ain't really what it seems
So many days I've thought of you
It's about time you knew the truth
Got to act quickly, you and I
We fall in love, so many reasons why
Why don't we (so why don't we), don't we
Why don't we, why don't we (yeah)
Why don't we, why don't we fall in love (why don't we fall in love)
(It's so many reason)
(It's the only thing that matters to me)
Why don't we fall in love
It takes such a load off to let you know
That you're the only one I never want to go
Think I never did know what to do
A love I never felt, now I feel with you
Why don't I just swallow each and every ounce of my pride
Everything you do I wanna feel again
Ain't no use for us to pretend
Why don't we, don't we (why can't we)
Why don't we (why can't we), why don't we (why can't we)
Why don't we, why don't we fall in love (we, can't we fall)
Why don't we, why don't we (yeah, yeah)
Why don't we, why don't we fall in love (oh)
Why (yeah)
Come with me
Tomorrow we're guaranteed love
Baby, let's be
Baby, let's be
Why don't we, why don't we
Why don't we, why don't we fall in love
Why don't we, why don't we (oh)
Why don't we, why don't we fall in love
Oh, oh
No, no, no, no
Whoa, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh
Oh, yeah
In "Why Don't We Fall In Love," Amerie sings about the excitement of finally acknowledging her true feelings for someone she's been thinking about for days. She understands that tomorrow is not guaranteed and wants to take action to be with this person. Throughout the song, she expresses her desires and how she feels it's time to take a risk for love. Amerie's lyrics suggest that she has fallen in love with someone, and she wants that person to reciprocate and fall in love with her. She sings, "It takes such a load off to let you know that you're the only one I never want to go."
In the chorus, Amerie repeats the question, "why don't we fall in love?" It comes across both as a question and a suggestion, conveying her willingness to take the next step and be with the person she's thinking of. The song has a bouncy and upbeat rhythm that helps highlight Amerie's desire to fall in love. Amerie's voice is high, crisp, and bright, adding to the cheerful melody of the song.

I don't know about y'all, but sometimes I feel the world took not just Amerie but the whole R&B genre for granted during this time. Sad we'll never get a golden era like this again. Hot beats, killer voices, dreamy settings & eye-catching wardrobe. Never be another period like the late 90s/early 2000s and it's sad...
@mz.necie1976
