Ah man, man, man, man, man, man
What's up?
Alright, yeah
It's been a whole year, my nigga
Let's not front, it's my year, my nigga
I'm here to fuck up your whole career, my nigga
You what what's the deal, my nigga
A lot of y'all fake flex, nigga
That is not your necklace
And that whip ain't yours, nigga
That's the IRS's
I'm bigger than Texas, me and God text message
Y'all see how easy lyin' is
It's easy to forget this
(Off on a natural charge, bon voyage)
Shimmy shimmy ya, y'all niggas get no applause
I'm lookin' like wealth, so mami wanna menage
Y'all niggas really hatin'
Get off my dick and my balls
All y'all niggas ain't worthy
Y'all don't pay dues
Y'all niggas pay up and thirsty
You thought you made you an anthem
But you just sang you a Fergie
Too many niggas bitin'
I might need me ten attorneys
Just 'cause you bought that vintage Margiela
Don't change your flight from Spirit to Delta
Y'all niggas dress like you just came out the store
I got my groove back like Fella, not Stella
(Off on a natural charge, bon voyage)
Shimmy shimmy ya, y'all niggas get no applause
I'm lookin' like wealth, so mami wanna menage
Y'all niggas really hatin'
Get off my dick and my balls
I got verses on verses, man
This shit could go all day
I got a whip that's blacker than the nigga from Allstate
Count your money up, nigga
Do the mathematics
That's not 200k
That's twenty dollars in your pocket
It's a cold, cold world that we live in
I'm shittin' on these niggas
I make it my mission
The way I kill these niggas
Send my ass to prison
I knock a nigga head off, then I'm dippin'
Splittin'
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
Ooh, baby, I like it raw
(Off a natural charge, bon voyage)
Shimmy shimmy ya, y'all niggas get no applause
I'm lookin' like wealth, so mami wanna menage
Y'all niggas really hatin'
Get off my dick and my balls
Aminé's song "Shimmy" is a self-celebratory track where the rapper showcases his confidence and skill by pushing back against the phoniness he sees in the music industry. Right from the start, Aminé is admitting that this is his year and he’s here to ruin other rappers' careers. He calls out fake flexing, people pretending to have expensive things on credit or borrowed, and cites his own success and genuine wealth as a contrast. He wants to separate himself from people who don't pay dues and who use cheap tactics to get ahead.
The chorus section of "Shimmy" references ODB's classic "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" and uses it to convey a message of high self-worth and rejection of naysayers. Aminé shows off his humor by referring to his black car as "blacker than the nigga from Allstate," and he confronts those who accuse him of lying about his wealth, noting that his success comes from hard work and talent.
The use of "Ooh, baby, I like it raw" in the chorus section may seem out of place, but it is actually another reference to ODB, who made the phrase famous in another song of the same name. Aminé is showing his affinity for the rap legends he grew up listening to and honoring their contributions to the genre.
Overall, "Shimmy" is a confident and fun track that showcases Aminé’s talent and love for hip hop. The song challenges the idea of false representation in the industry and embraces authenticity in rap music.

It’s crazy how he really just represented Portland like this. This is one of the first big budget music videos I’ve seen in this genre from my city and it makes me proud of the progress we made.
dan emp
Portland is the joke of Oregon. We have always called it never never land, thats where you go when you dont wanna grow up.
Ama Okoro
dan emp why
N8thin
You havent made any progress at all
dan emp
@Ama Okoro what do you mean? I already said why. If you grow up in Oregon, portland is where you move when you want to act like a kid forever. Then you move away from the ridiculous city and grow up.
Alaa A.
His friends always in the videos gives me so much joy. They really know exactly what they’re doing and having so much fun while doing it. The head movements exactly as the music pauses, the ad libs in the right lyrics, fire dance moves. Everything Aminé does is a vibe, everything they do together is a vibe.
