Self touring with 400 shows in 2 years, and self recording with 2500 units sold on with no outside help makes this an indie band in the true sense of the word.
ย ย ย ย ย Their combination of Clash-esque Reggae Punk, a dab of South American
rhythms, and a progressive sound independent of classification, wrapped
in an extremely intense live show makes this band a force to be
reckoned with.ย Selling out shows at home such as the World Cafรฉ Live
and the 941 Theater (300 cap.).ย The band has hit premier venues like
The Paradise, Nectars, Higher Ground, The Visulite Theater (Charlotte
NC) The NorVa, Montage Music Hall, Alleykatz and The Note supporting
bands like Bedouin Soundclash, State Radio, Soulive, Soja, Fear Nuttin
Band, Big D and the Kids Table, Zox, Giant Panda, Jah Works,ย and Easy
Star Allstars.ย They have also been featured on Phillys own WXPN, The
River in Boston, and NBC 10โs 10! Show, and have been selected to
showcase at NACA's Northeast Conference.ย
โThe distinct, clear and pure musicality of the album reinforces the technical talent of the musicians and the good ear of a skilled producer, while communicating intelligent lyrics and important social messages.โ - Beyond Race Magazine
โBounce with brains: the reggae moves your hips; their lyrics feed your mind.โ - Joe Student, Philly Edge

Gangster Mike
I remember, the HOOVERS.
The whole car, was known for heavy gunplay from the 40s to the 100s
Made enemies out of everybody. And took every body to WAR
Hoovers was like: BK, CK,, PK, NHCK, OK, ABK, & EBK.
I remember Hoover dropping the crip and becoming the Criminal Gang flying Orange Raggs.
52 Hoover is the only set STILL bangin CRIP.
The 'H' come before anything for them.

Snoover wasnโt handlโin bidness fo they go to Crippโin fool๐คก
CRIP IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT MIND-FRAME!
None of yโall would know because youโre a bunch of bitch ass fanboys.
Before they got in the crib car they werenโt even moving like they are now.
Nobody was.
They were just gang members, running around throwing hands.
Barely anybody had a gun.
Snoovers left the car & got even dumber...

I grew up around there in LA. Not too far and not too close but the Hooverโs I always liked and had the most respect for. My road dog from the 60โs might disagree but the never messed with me and always were cool. Thereโs certain Hooverโs Iโd never put myself in a situation with but thatโs just from knowing whoโs playing in bounds and whoโs in the outfield flying a kite with no string. You donโt gotta just watch your surroundings out here.

@yarchism I feel you, I think itโs how you know them, they can be pretty grimy and I really feel you with the Damus. I know alot of super cool Bloods, they do seem to be the more cool ones and donโt mess with you so much. My best friend in highscool was a 60 and I wouldnโt trust barely any of them except for him and I was cool with them because of him. Itโs just how you know certain ones. But yeah the Bloods I went to school with I really liked and had alot of laughs with. Iโm still good friends with a Damu to this day. I remember one of the funniest persons I ever met was Willbone from waterfront piru. I still laugh at some of the stuff that guy did. Huge Samoan monster but funny as hell and super coolโฆunless you were an enemy. I never banged so I was able to hang with people I was either locked up with or went to school with I just met that I clicked with. I was also smart enough not to ever mention that I had friends from other hoods and sets. Also being half Mexican and Puerto Rican no one ever boxed me into one race to pick a fight with me or get disrespected. I got into my share of fights but it was never over what I was. But yeah I back what your saying.

Idunno man. Hoovers are the thirstiest and grimiest west side LA gang I think by a long shot. In my experience most Damus played by more codes in terms of once they realize you're a civilian they're cool and they don't prey on the weak. Hoover area is more impovershed than further west (crenshaw etc) So maybe that's why
