Silhouette
Amoral Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

With words she paints her silhouette
Unfocused shots to forget
Her thoughts laid out for all to go unread

Turns on the lights for you to see inside
Not a thing in her world that she wishes to hide now
The eyes bring comfort to her life
Where are the well-kept secrets, something not to know
The picture too precious to show

A man observers, confused he’s shaking his head
Something he believed in turns out to be dead now
Pen to the paper, this is what it said

Spyglass turned obsolete
When all the world moved right next door
The writing on the wall came true
When the now became all that she knew

She gave herself away when handing over control
And placed a pricetag on her soul

Spyglass turned obsolete
When all the world moved right next door
The writing on the wall came true
When the now became all that she knew

Spyglass turned obsolete
When all the world moved right next door

The writing on the wall came true
When the now became all that she knew

Overall Meaning

The opening line of Amoral’s “Silhouette” speaks of a woman who expresses herself through words, painting her silhouette with them. The second line implies that these words are an attempt to forget something, perhaps a bad experience or memory. What’s interesting is that although her thoughts and feelings are laid out for others to see, nobody seems to read or understand them. Despite the act of sharing, she is still misunderstood and isolated.

The chorus shows that this woman is not trying to hide anything - she wants people to see inside, to understand her. But there are apparently no secrets to uncover, no hidden things that make her unique. Her life is an open book, but nobody wants to read it. The third verse introduces a male character who observes her, but he’s confused by what he sees. He realized too late that something he believed in has become dead. This leads to a sense of disillusionment, and the man is compelled to write down his thoughts.

@ribosradagast Well Finland is blessed with not only being the ONLY country where metal is HUGE and bands like COB can debut a new album at number one -- BUT also --- a country where guys are so gorgeous they are actually pretty ..and sexy.. unlike other countries. Soooo IDK if you mean as a put down, but as a person who's Finnish I love that Finland is full of long haired beautiful men :D Look at all Finnish bands you will see how pretty they are & it's not their fault for the genes they have
