Arms Of A Woman
Amos Lee Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I am at ease
In the arms of a woman
Although now most of my days are spent alone
A thousand miles from the place I was born

When she wakes me
She takes me back home
Now most days
I spend like a child
Who's afraid of ghosts in the night
I know there ain't nothing out there
But I'm still afraid to turn on the light

I am at ease
In the arms of a woman
Although now most of my days are spent alone
A thousand miles from the place I was born

When she wakes me
She takes me back home

I am at ease
In the arms of a woman
Although now most of my days are spent alone
A thousand miles from the place I was born

When she wakes me
She takes me
Yeah when she wakes me
She takes me
Yeah when she wakes me
She takes me back home

When she wakes me
She takes me back home

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Amos Lee's song "Arms Of A Woman" showcase a sense of comfort, security and a longing for home. The singer reveals that he is spending most of his days alone, far from his birthplace, and even though there is nothing to fear, he is still afraid of the dark, like a child scared of ghosts. However, he finds solace and peace in the arms of a woman, who makes him feel like he is back home.

The song is filled with evocative imagery, such as the reference to the child being afraid of ghosts in the night. This imagery speaks to the singer’s sense of vulnerability, even though he is an adult. He is lonely, scared, and yearns to feel safe again. The woman he is referring to not only provides him with physical comfort, but she soothes his soul and brings him back to a place of familiarity and belonging.

Overall, the lyrics to "Arms Of A Woman" evoke feelings of homesickness, loneliness, fear, and comfort. The singer's desire for security is palpable and his connection to this woman is both physical and emotional. This song is a beautiful testament to the power of love, and how it can bring someone back to a sense of life that was long forgotten.

It took a minute for my tears to stop after I read this so I could answer, what a beautiful thing to say.I have peace in my life after a Divorce (46yrs) happened in 2014. I'm 71 now and NEVER thought I would EVER think of another woman but there is a woman in Church named Valerie,(60) she is DROP DEAD GORGES she lost he husband 11/2 yrs ago, she is best friends with my best friends girl friend, from 8th grade .They say she's not ready to meet anyone yet, so I haven't pressed it, but I'm afraid if I don't tell her how I feel , when she is ready I'll have missed my chance to get to know her. It's been 50yrs sense I've asked anyone out, "I've LOST ALOT OF MY MOJO" Go grief I'm 71 and I feel like I'm back in the 5th grade asking Roseann Tilyou to go steady. I need to get some "CAHOONA'S" AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! Life is a lot like a roll of toilet paper ,in the beginning it goes slow but a the end of the roll it goes a lot faster!!! PS: I tried to talk to her once ,when I opened my mouth it was only to change FEET!!! THANKS for Listening (Hope she comes to Church Sunday (you know the RONA Virus) --- (Kinda feels like I'm writing to Rona Bearett in the News paper the title would be"LOVE SICK OLD GUY" only the older folks know who I'm talking about) LOVE YOU ALL GOD BLESS

This song reminds me of my beautiful mother. She was loving, caring and made everything at ease. Coming home to her was the best feeling ever. She was diagnosed with Gastric ademo carcinoma in March 2016 and died March 2017. Every time I hear this song brings me back home. 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

You know it’s amazing to me that when I listened to this song this morning it brought me to my mother also. She has passed June 2017 but it brought me to a better understanding of her as an 18 girl having me in a town far away from her home with her new husband and she was homesick so she called her Dad to bring us to her birthplace community her home when I was 6 months old . I am 67 and I felt her homesickness today . Beautiful beautiful voice and song .

I miss my mama too, it's been a year now that she left me.
She's always been a help no matter what and a woman who will never let us down.

@DaxxTerryGreen

Happy to hear that friend. Unfortunately many of them aren't like that. Peace
