Lee grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA. He has been quoted as saying that he is fortunate to have seen different sides of life in America. Lee enrolled at the University of South Carolina in 1995. He began to play guitar and write songs seriously while he studied English. After graduating with an English degree, Lee moved back to Philadelphia to teach elementary school. He later made the tough decision to stop teaching in order to pursue a career in music. Shortly thereafter, he released a self-produced EP that featured five of his original songs, which did extremely well in Philadelphia and created a buzz. Norah Jones was the person who finally gave Lee his big breakthrough when she asked him to open for her 2004 tour. Lee then went on to produce his self-titled debut album. In March and April of 2005 Lee opened for the tour that Merle Haggard and Bob Dylan were both embarking on, all 3 performers were extremely well received by critics as the tour went by, with Dylan receiving some of his strongest reviews in years. On October 3, 2006, Lee released his second album, "Supply & Demand" to critical and commercial acclaim.
At the age of only 27, Amos Lee has enjoyed notable success with his debut album and looks to have a promising future in the music business. His favorite artists and sources of inspiration include Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, John Prine, Bill Withers, and James Taylor.

Baby I want you
Baby I want you
Baby, I do
Darling I love you
Darling I love you
Know that it's true
Don't you know how I hate to be alone
I just want to be apart of your home
[Chorus]
Don't leave me here out in the cold
Don't you know that it's your hand I wanna hold
As these days fly past and unfold
Hey
[Chorus]
The lyrics of Amos Lee's song Baby I Want You convey a sentiment of longing and desperation for the other person's love and companionship. The singer wants the person they love to know that they want and love them more than anything else, as expressed in the repetitive chorus. The first verse pleads with the other person to not leave the singer alone, as it is something they cannot bear. The singer wants to be a part of the other person's home, a permanent fixture in their life, indicating a desire for commitment and stability.
The second verse starts with the same plea, but this time around, the singer implores the other person not to leave them out in the cold. The lyrics suggest that the singer wants the other person to hold their hand, a small but meaningful gesture of love and affection that would provide warmth and comfort. As the days fly past and unfold, the singer wants the other person to know that their love remains true, indicating that the love for the other person is something that will stand the test of time.
In essence, the lyrics of Baby I Want You paint a picture of someone who is deeply in love and wants nothing more than to share it with the other person, to be a part of their life and have them as a constant presence in their own. The repetition of the chorus and the simple yet heartfelt lyrics convey the depth of the singer's feelings and the urgency with which they need to be reciprocated.
