Happy Working Song
Amy Adams Lyrics

As we all sing a happy little working song
Merry little voices clear and strong
Come and roll your sleeves up
So to speak, and pitch in
Cleaning crud up in the kitchen
As we sing along
As we scrub a stubborn mildew stain
Pluck a hairball from the shower drain
To that gay refrain of a happy working song
We'll keep singing without fail
Otherwise we'd spoil it
Hosing down the garbage pail
And scrubbing up the toilet, ooh
How we all enjoy letting loose
With a little la-da-dum-dum-dum
While we're emptying the vacuum up
It's such fun to hum a happy working song
Ooh, a happy working song
Oh, how strange a place to be
'Til Edward comes for me
My heart is sighing
Still, as long as I am here
I guess a new experience
Could be worth trying
Hey, keep trying
You can do a lot when you got
Such a happy working tune to hum
While you're sponging up the soapy scum
We adore each filthy chore that we determine
So friends, even though you're vermin
We're a happy working throng
Singing as we fetch the detergent box
For the smelly shirts and the stinky socks
Sing along, if you cannot sing, then hum along
As we're finishing our happy working song
Ah, wasn't this fun?
The lyrics to the song "Happy Working Song" by Amy Adams are all about finding joy and happiness in the act of hard work. The song is structured as a call-and-response style tune, with the singer inviting their "little friends" to join in and lend a helping hand as they clean up a messy kitchen. The lyrics describe scrubbing down surfaces, removing hairballs from shower drains, and hosing off garbage pails and toilets. Even though the chores they are doing might be unpleasant, they find pleasure in the task because they are singing together and creating a "happy working song."
The melody of the song is upbeat and cheerful, making it an instant ear-worm. The lyrics describe each task in a playful and lighthearted way, with words like "mildew stain" and "garbage pail" being sung with a smile. In the middle of the song, there's a musical bridge where the singer pauses to talk about how strange it is to be cleaning in such a dirty place until "Edward comes for me." Even though there are moments of vulnerability, the tone never turns negative or somber. The song ultimately ends on a happy note, with the singer declaring, "Ah, wasn't this fun?"

I remember the theater bursting into laughter when she called the animals. That scene is too funny XD
@pustulio81
Fun Fact: The animals gathering when a "princess" sings is actually based on something real called "Kulning". It's a type of singing that originated in Sweden hundreds of years ago. They use it to call and gather their livestock when it was time to bring them in from the fields or to herd them together.
Here's a video of it being performed. It's beautiful to hear it echoing around.
