Absolutely right. My sons only stayed at a friend's house when I knew the parents, if I didn't know them personally, I made a point to go there myself and see who was there, if everything was OK and spent time talking to the adult(s) in charge.
And that was for people that I went to schooI with the parents or they were a few houses away. I did not Iet my sons go just anywhere for the night without doing my own checking into it.
It was funny tho, my oldest son was a true homebody and his one friend's dad would say when I started walking back to our place a half block away, "see ya later" because he knew when his kids fell asleep, my son would be ready to come home and sleep in his own bed.

Mostly, other kids came to our house and that was just fine with me. I could keep an eye on them myseIf.
I also live in the same valley for decades, most of my life so I know who's who and what goes on, and who l can and can't trust.
I cannot imagine letting my kids go to some hotel or other place to party, without knowing how many would be there or that just anyone could show up. Nope, no way. Not in this day and age.
Our chiIdren are our most precious gifts and it's our job to keep them safe.
Also, TikTok is a horrible app and its owned by a Chinese company, they basically steal all your data and keep records of everything everyone does. So do NOT let your kids TikTok please. It's a toxic app with all sorts of weirdos and dumb dangerous challenges that have gotten kids kiIIed.

Monitor what your chiId is doing onIine and make sure you check their social media accounts regularly at random times so they can't just delete everything they don't want you to see.
Idc how much they might not like it. Too bad, that's the only condition parents should even be letting their minor chiIdren use a smart phone in the first place.
I'm so glad it wasn't like that when I grew up, it wasn't even this bad when my kids were younger. It's become so toxic, especially for young girls. You never know what kind of weirdos might be after them.
And cyberbullying is so awful, they are better off without it, or being very limited to only a short time a day and then check up on them.
Too many heartbreaking stories of kids who hung themseIves from being buIIied or staIked onIine and were kidnapped or getting drugs from people they don't even know and dying from taking 1 pill that ended up being fentanyl.
We Iive in dangerous times and parents need to step up and stay involved in their children's Iives. They wiII thank you for it later.
That said, I'm sorry for this family's Ioss. No one deserves to have to bury a chiId. ❤️ RIP, another Iife Iost way too young.

Sounds like the life of the eight Mennonite girls from my grad class. Very strict parents…all of them pregnant before graduation day. That’s 20% of the girls in my grad class. My parents weren’t morons, though, and were very protective, but sleepovers are part of a NORMAL childhood. So is getting your license and a weekend job and dating, if you like dating. That’s how you get your child to segue smoothly into the transition to adulthood. The weirdos are always lurking in those families who are unnecessarily strict, especially with their girls. And the girls who have too many unnecessary rules almost always crash and burn because they haven’t been taught how to deal with the real world. Without permission, he drove us to a different park way across town instead, and everyone got home after dark. I was on my own at basically 15. I was abused as a kid by several people. I went through absolute hell trying to survive in the 80’s-90s. I got pregnant at 18 and then was married, had 2 more by the time I was 24. My husband and I were extremely protective over our kids. I grew up in a tiny town where not a lot happens, but being on my own at such an early age I knew what people were capable of. I didn’t let my kids go hang out in the streets etc and a lot of these parents now are probably thinking at least they’re inside and not out getting in trouble, but there’s danger EVERYWHERE. You literally can’t trust anyone, and it’s just not worth risking their lives for a little fun. My kids are all now adults, and they thank me for protecting them. I wouldn’t change that for anything.

We roamed the streets, we got drunk, hung out with way older people. My sisters both got knocked up at 17. I'll love to see the day you guys realize that grief and shock hits everyone differently. If you don't see someone slanging snot, can barely get out their words and just in a hysterical wreck you assume they either don't care or not concerned. Newsflash this is a mother, who likely has other children and needs to be able to maintain a sense of strength for her other kids. At my mom's funeral I didn't shed one tear, I wasn't in a distraught emotional stage, I was truly numb. On the outside looking in it may have seemed as if it didn't hit me, but what most people don't see is later that day I spent hours sobbing in bed, couldn't move or eat for weeks. Sometimes you cry and fret until you just can't anymore, and she was likely at that point. There's 5 stages of grief and it's very possible she's still in denial . I like that. My sister is the opposite. She wouldn't care, and that's one of the reasons I had to distant myself from her. I almost got assulted by someone outside a club, and instead of walking out together, she would rather be inside the club, chilling. I been assulted before, and this was it. My daughter stay the night at her friends house only one night. The next day I found out the girl had an older brother. I met the mother prior and never heard about this older brother. Well, that was it for me. I felt like something was being hidden and I don’t play that. I rented an apartment in an owner occupied 2 family home once. I asked the woman who resided in the home as she informed me her husband had retired back their Caribbean island. She said me, my daughter & her two young sons (all of whom I'd seen). The day I give her the money to move in (first & last she demanded money orders not checks) after she had them in her hands. Her son in law ( a man about my age) walks up from the basement apartment & she tells him to go do something in my soon to be apartment. She then stops on the stairs money order in hand & says in a nasty tone & "no dog if you want dog get your own house." Up until that point she had been saccharin(y) sweet. She wanted me to rent the unit because it was 3 bedroom & I was one person & she didn't like a lot of noise over hear head. I found out later that the son in law had heavily encouraged her to rent to me because he had seen me parking on the block & walking to work because I worked nearby. She also had an adult son who was away at school all of whom had access to the keys to my apartment. That really annoyed, frightened & pissed me off. I changed the locks but moved out soon after because sometimes when I stayed home during the week & no one else was home I could hear him singing two floors down like he wanted me to know he was there. When people fail to mention men & boys that will be in young women's presence, it is a red flag.

The fact that the parents never called all night into the next day says a whole lot… if my parents actually let me go stay somewhere, which was rare at that age, they would have called every hour on the hour, and if I didn’t answer they’d have been calling the parents of who I was with, and they didn’t answer they’d be beating down doors. This story and so many others amaze me. Wake up call for parents who let their kids do some of the things they do on any social media. There are predators young and old and that is never going to go away. Your child is out there twerking, dancing sexually, wearing next to nothing, acting a fool, pranking people, etc, (boys or girls) there are more than plenty of predators watching, obsessing, jealous, and more to hurt them. Wake up for the love of god! Not monitoring their accounts or even monitoring them and then letting them do ridiculous things can bring more harm than good.

I grew up with strict parents even after hs I became felt free but almost died couple times and no one knew. I’m 24 and so grateful that I’m able to stop myself from hanging out with the wrong crowds. We used to go to friends and strangers house just to do drugs and alcohol. It’s all temporary fun but nothing is worth it in the end. I chose to live life with joy with faith in one God. But complete joy only exists in another time according to his word. God have mercy.

Perhaps spend more time minding your children and knowing what they are up to. My kids have plenty of freedoms and let me know where they’ll be going. If that young lady would have reached out to her parents before being shuffled from an AirBnb (aka, RENTED house) to a hotel to “party”, perhaps her parents would have said no way. The stepfather in the video said he encouraged her to go because she'd been confined to the house due to lockdown. She'd been to similar once before and the chaperone told him it would be a children's party and that she (the chaperone) would be responsible for them all. Bad enough to lose
your kid and your step kid, but to have people blame you for someone murdering them must feel like a knife being twisted in your heart.

This is why we just need to make sure we are the ones responsible for our own children. Kinda sucks we can't let them enjoy life, but we gotta do whats best to protect them. This is why I'm the parent that will host parties and I'll always make room for the parents to give them a choice whether they help chaperone or not. That way we all have a chance to either be the ones to take care of our children, or make sure you assign them to someone you truly can trust. It usually works out for us. The parents get to have a night hanging out, and so do the kids. Rent a big cabin, two floors and perfect. Never too far from each other. Any parent who can't make it, will have a group of parents they can befriend and learn whether or not they can trust them.

My daughter gonna miss out on the negligence and nonsense. I don't care. I was allowed to roam as I please growing up and the things I witnessed and experienced are shocking. My parents weren't interested in my life so I followed "friends" down the wrong path. Cut everybody off, got right with God and on a whole new successful path. We were NEVER allowed to sleep outside of our home unless we were with our Nana, or grandparents. We weren't even allowed in our friends houses let alone a hotel room. Unfortunately, adults cannot be trusted with their own kids, don't trust them with yours.
