Grant made her debut in 1977 under the guidance of Myrrh Records, and became the first Christian recording act to have an album be certified platinum. Following her marriage to Gary Chapman in 1982 and a subsequent deal between her record company and A&M Records, a series of successful pop-crossover records consolidated her position as both Christian music's highest-selling act and a formidable force in mainstream music, and according to Billboard magazine she was the most successful Christian recording artist of the 1980s and 1990s.
After giving birth to her fourth child Corinna Grant Gill, Grant returned to her gospel music roots with the 2002 release of Legacy...Hymns & Faith. The album featured a Vince Gill-influenced mix of bluegrass and gospel and marked Grant's 25th anniversary in the music industry. Grant followed this up with the pop release Simple Things in 2003. The album did not see the success of her previous pop efforts, and soon after the album, Amy and Interscope/A&M parted ways.
Grant released a sequel to her hymns collection in 2005 titled Rock of Ages... Hymns & Faith. Despite publicly musing that life would be easier if she weren't working, Grant joined the reality television phenomenon by hosting Three Wishes, a show in which she and a team of helpers make wishes come true for small-town residents. The show debuted on NBC in the fall of 2005, but was cancelled in November after 10 episodes. After Three Wishes was cancelled, Grant won her 6th Grammy Award for Rock of Ages.
In a February, 2006 webchat, Amy stated she believes her "best music is still ahead".
Amy Grant recorded a live cd/dvd album in early 2006 and it was released later in the year.
To date Amy Grant has sold more than 25 million records worldwide and is a 6 time Grammy winning artist.
Tennessee Christmas

Give us a forecast snowy white
Can't you hear the prayers
Of every childlike heart tonight?
Rockies are calling
Denver snow falling
Somebody said it's four feet deep
Give me the laughter
I'm gonna choose to keep
Another tender Tennessee Christmas
The only Christmas for me
Where the love circles around us
Like the gifts around our tree
Well I know there's more snow
Up in Colorado
Than my roof will ever see
But a tender Tennessee Christmas
Is the only Christmas for me
Every now and then
I got a wanderin' urge to see
Maybe California
Maybe tinsel town's for me
There's a parade there
We'd have it made there
Bring home a tan for new year's eve
Sure sounds exciting
Awfully inviting
Still I think I'll gonna keep
Another tender Tennessee Christmas
The only Christmas for me
Where the love circles around us
Like the gifts around our tree
Well they say in L.A.
It's a warm holiday
It's the only place to be
But a tender Tennessee Christmas
Is the only Christmas for me
Everybody
It sounds good when you're singing along
Ohh, you know I want to be home
Mmm hmm
Well I know there's more snow
Up in Colorado
Than my roof will ever see
But a tender Tennessee Christmas
Is the only Christmas for me
A tender Tennessee Christmas
Is the only Christmas for me
The song “Tennessee Christmas” is a classic holiday tune that speaks about the joys of celebrating Christmas in Tennessee, despite the allure of glitzier destinations like California or Colorado. Amy Grant's powerful voice, coupled with the simple yet effective arrangement, echoes the sentiments of many who keep their Christmas traditions simple and heartfelt. As the song progresses, we see the contrast between the snow-filled landscapes of Colorado and the warmth and coziness of Tennessee, where love and family are paramount.
The opening lines of the song, “Come on weatherman, give us a forecast snowy white, can't you hear the prayers of every childlike heart tonight?” set the tone for the musical journey that's about to unfold. The message here is clear- that the joy of Christmas isn't just for adults. It's a time for children too, and everyone should have a chance to enjoy a good, old-fashioned white Christmas. The chorus, “Another tender Tennessee Christmas, the only Christmas for me, where the love circles around us, like the gifts around our tree” reinforces the idea that Christmas isn't about glitz or glamour. It's about love and togetherness.

I choke up when she sings "I know there's more snow, up in Colorado than my roof will ever see. But a Tender Tennessee Christmas is the only one for me." My daddy who has passed away 8 years ago grew up in Colorado and I use to visit there in the summer. Merry Christmas daddy. A lot of my relatives that live in Colorado, I miss them dearly.

They do this song at Dollywood in their Smokey Mountain Christmas show. It's incredible. I start to cry as soon as the first note plays.
