By January 2004 the band was settled. After the first live performances in clubs, theatres and bars in Romagna, Amycanbe recorded a self-produced EP with 5 songs. It attracted the attention of critics and attained widespread success. Blow Up magazine placed Amycanbe in the playlist of the best debutant Italian indie band of the 2005. In May and September 2005 Amycanbe open for Skin, Sophia, The Devastations and Yuppie Flu. In July Frequency magazine invited the band on the Roma Rock Festival Stage.
In early 2007 the band signed a record deal with UK indie label Dancing Turtle Records, and their debut album 'Being A Grown-Up Sure Is Complicated' was released in October of the same year to critical acclaim. This co-incided with a UK tour that saw the band play in Leeds, Bristol, Oxford and Sheffield, as well as the album launch at 12 Bar in London. The band also did radio sessions for the BBC and received plays on BBC Radio 1.
In addition to the album, Amycanbe have also released 2 singles on limited edition 7" vinyl through Dancing Turtle, one of which features an exclusive remix from Japanese electronica producer Daisuke Tanabe, as well as the tracks 'My Ring' and 'The Song Of Matthew and Mark'. Amycanbe have also featured on the recent '50 Minutes' and 'Merdeka' compilation CDs.
Through this few mounths after the album release, Amycanbe have been gigging a lot in Italy and coming back to England (now almost a second home) for a 2nd Tour that saw the band having some highlights in glorious music-venues such as The Borderline in London, Komedia in Brighton, the Croft in Bristol and The Gander in Bournemouth.
Back in Italy...the summer is not late...and it's time for Festivals!!...The brilliant Assalti Al Cuore in Rimini wanted Amycanbe for one gig that will be marked as one of the greatest in the band's history...then gigging and demoing again and again...with almost no rest!
In the meantime "Cafe Mambo Ibiza 09 compiled by Jose Padilla" is out worldwide by Defected Records and includes the great 24 hours remix by Yellowtail .
In the meantime also Glauco join the band on lead guitar
The band just finished a new project, an EP called The World Is Round, which single Everywhere is available now as a preview, including Dub Version by mERCU and previously unavailable Rose is A Rose (PEACE Mix) originally from Compilation PEACE by Buffetlibre and Amnesty International

Down Under
Amycanbe Lyrics

Always wondering you
Would you come with me ?
Would you come ?
Would you come with me ?
Would you come ?
From down under
And you,
You,
You,
You..
You call me out
From down under
And I,
I,
I,
I..
Always walking alone
In a stumbled town
Always in
Picking on they say
Do you know what happened then ?
Dress myself and walk down
Dress myself and walk down
You call me out
From down under
And you,
You,
You,
You..
You call me out
From down under
And I,
I,
I,
I..
Dress myself and walk down
Dress myself and walk down
Dress myself and walk down
Dress myself..
The lyrics of Amycanbe's song Down Under suggest the theme of one person trying to connect with another who appears distant and hesitant. The singer seems to be attracted to the other person and is uncertain if the feelings are mutual. The singer walks, alone, through the town, always wondering if the object of their affection would come with them, always picking up their dress and walking down, hopeful but unsure. In the chorus, the singer hears the other person calling them out from down under, metaphorically calling them out from their hiding place in the depths of their mind and heart. The repetition of the phrase “you call me out” highlights the singer's need for that person to choose them and take the first step towards building a relationship.
The phrase “down under” in the title and chorus of the song can be interpreted in different ways, such as referring to the physical location of Australia, the idea of the underground or the depths of one's subconscious. The song's somber melody, soft instrumentals and the dreamy vocals of the lead singer create a mood of melancholy and introspection.
