She sang in public for the first time in a radio contest at the age of ten. She didn't win that year, but won the next year. Her early singing caught the attention of a movie producer who introduced her to the cinema audiences as "Ana Belen" in the movie "Zampo y Yo" when she was thirteen.
Ana didn't want to become a child-star and focused on her studying. It wasn't until she finished drama school that she went back performing in public, being theater her prefered way to do so. She did small incursions in movies till she was offered major parts.
In 1973 she was cast opposite Víctor Manuel in Morbo and he became her husband as well as the composer of the songs included in her first album. In 1982 she released "Ana en Rio", an album with Brazilian music that included the song "Balance" and became an instant hit.

The success of this tour lead to a new one, "El Gusto es Nuestro" with Miguel Rios, Joan Manuel Serrat y Victor Manuel.
She releases several albums through the 90's that achieve great success like "Veneno para el Corazon" that included Spanish versions of Cole Porter songs among others, "Mirame" full of duets with the most important Spanish voices or "Lorquiana", a double CD with popular songs and poems of Federico García Lorca.

En una mañana al este de edén
James dean tiraba piedras
A una casa blanca, entonces te besé
Aquélla fue la primera vez
Tus labios parecían de papel
Y a la salida en la puerta
Nos pidió un triste inspector nuestros carnets
Para no faltar a clase de francés
Tú me esperaste hora y media
No te demores, no sea
Que no llegues a la hora al almacén
Llámame el día que puedas
Date prisa que ya son las cuatro y diez
The lyrics to Ana Belén's song Las Cuatro Y Diez describe a nostalgic memory of when the singer first kissed someone at a movie theater. The memory is vividly described, setting the scene in a morning "east of Eden" where James Dean throws rocks at a white house. It is at this moment that the singer shares her first kiss, stating that the other person's lips felt like paper. After the movie, they were stopped by an inspector who checked their IDs before the singer went off to a French class and the other person waited at the same table for an hour and a half.
The lyrics continue as the singer reminisces about a later date. They discuss getting coffee or ice cream, the other person's well-being, and even show each other a photo of a newborn baby. The singer insists on paying for the meal, telling the other person not to be late for work and asking them to call when they can. The song's title, Las Cuatro y Diez, refers to the time at which the singer asks the other person to call her, emphasizing the importance of maintaining their connection despite their busy lives.
