Ana Popović's father first introduced her to the blues, through an extensive record collection and sessions hosted at the family home. Popović founded her first serious band at age nineteen. Within a year, she was playing outside of Yugoslavia and opening shows for American blues icons like Junior Wells. Her band Hush released their debut album, Hometown in 1998. The next year, Popović relocated to the Netherlands to study jazz guitar. She quickly became a fixture on the Dutch blues scene and soon ventured into neighboring Germany.

Business as Usual
Ana Popovic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
listen to the blues
make love in the dark
watch the evening news
business as usual
but the feeling ain't right
get the kids to school
make plans for tonight
we're playing it cool
business as usual
but the feeling ain't right
If these walls could talk
they'd have nothing to say
we're leaving all the love on the table
each night and day
I honestly can't tell baby
where the feeling has gone
should we work it out,
should we work it out
or just leave it alone
The song "Business as Usual" by Ana Popovic talks about the mundanity of every day life, and the feelings of disconnection that come with it. The lyrics describe common routines such as talking about the weather, listening to the blues, making love in the dark, and watching the evening news, which have become "business as usual" for the couple. However, despite going to work, getting the kids to school, and making plans for the night, the feeling just isn't right.
The second verse continues to describe their routine, and even the walls seem to sense the lack of passion and love between them. The couple is leaving all the love on the table, not putting in the effort to reignite the spark they once had. The singer is questioning whether they should work it out or just leave it alone, but regardless, something needs to change.
Overall, the song is about the monotony of daily life and the danger of falling into routine, causing a lack of passion and love in a relationship. The singer is trying to decide whether to fix their relationship or let it go.
