Ana Popović's father first introduced her to the blues, through an extensive record collection and sessions hosted at the family home. Popović founded her first serious band at age nineteen. Within a year, she was playing outside of Yugoslavia and opening shows for American blues icons like Junior Wells. Her band Hush released their debut album, Hometown in 1998. The next year, Popović relocated to the Netherlands to study jazz guitar. She quickly became a fixture on the Dutch blues scene and soon ventured into neighboring Germany.

Mo' Better Love
Ana Popovic Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
why couldn't we?
Couldn't we berry every weapon?
why couldn't we?
Leave our prejudice at home
Things that we don't know about
why not leave them alone
Enough to go around
Mo’ better love
Keep on reaching for the higher ground
Mo’ better love
We need better love
Wouldn't be nice to live together
wouldn't it be?
In peace and harmony forever
wouldn't it be?
Why do we keep on hurting each other
And if I was your sister, and you were my brother
Makes the world go round
for our children, to be safe and sound
We need better love
This is a time to make amends
Ooh reach out, take each other's hand
Hold on, hold on until we finally understand
oh, my brother, my friend, it all comes down to
Love is all we need, Mo' better love
Ana Popovic's song "Mo' Better Love" is a call for unity, peace, and love. The lyrics encourage listeners to reflect on their actions and attitudes towards others, asking why we can't bury our weapons and prejudices, and why we continue to hurt each other when we could be living in peace and harmony. The song is a plea for better love, the kind of love that is enough to go around and raises us to a higher level. The chorus emphasizes the need for better love, with repetition emphasizing the point that love is all we need.
Ana Popovic's song is a reflection of her personal experiences as a female blues guitarist and an immigrant from Serbia to the United States. Her lyrics speak to the injustices and prejudices that she has experienced and witnessed, as well as the hope for a better future. "Mo' Better Love" was released in 2009 on Popovic's album "Blind for Love" and was well received by critics and blues enthusiasts.
