Born Rachael Olson on April 18, 1966, she changed her name to Ana Clara Voog just for the fun of it; that is, it isn't a stage name, nor a persona. Although it was allegedly never legally changed, she prefers to be called by it. Ana dropped out of high school in the year she would have graduated, 1984, got her GED, and embarked on a musical career which spanned two decades. For the first eleven years she was the leader, singer, guitar player, and songwriter in an all-female band called The Blue Up?. She recorded on two major labels, Columbia and MCA, and claims she was dropped for being too eccentric. By the beginning of 2005, Ana had released four albums, an EP, singles, has been featured on various compilations throughout the world and has stated that she is soon to begin recording a new album.

see your smile in alabaster rows
sew a scene in any season
choose a theme
redefine fine
you can
change your mind
to find it
backwards to find a space
cut your hair to change your place
break your windows to let in air
you can't hear 'cause you're not there
redefine time
read between the rhymne
to find it
backwards to get a head
you'll understand this when you're dead
listen to intuition
it's yours to build your wishin'
redefine
your mind
you can change time
to find it
The song "Backwards" by Ana Voog is a reflective and introspective piece that speaks about the concept of going backwards to move forward, and how making changes in one's life can lead to a better understanding and appreciation of oneself. The first verse speaks of touching one's nose backwards, seeing oneself in white rows, and creating a scene for oneself. This can be interpreted as a call to look deeper within oneself and to see oneself in a different light, perhaps shedding light on aspects of oneself that were once hidden or ignored. The idea is to redefine what is considered normal and fine in order to bring about positive change, leading to a heightened awareness of oneself and one's surroundings.
The second verse speaks of finding a new space, cutting one's hair to signify a new chapter in one's life, and breaking windows to let in air. The idea is to take control of one's life and create a new reality, one that is not bound by prior limitations or inhibitions. Redefining time is also mentioned in this verse, urging the listener to look beyond the clock and see time as a fluid concept. The final verse speaks to the importance of listening to one's intuition, as it serves as a guide to building a better future.
Overall, the song serves as a reminder that change is essential for growth and development, and that looking backwards can provide new perspectives on oneself and one's life.
