Brothers
Anadel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We see the flames
Watch the fire take the sky
See it rage
Watch our souls get burned alive
See our temple
Watch the pillars fall apart
'Cause we are broken
Sick and bleeding from our hearts
Our hearts
Listen to the voice that whispers softly
Tells you everything you want to hear
Look away
Find the strenght to overcome
Look inside
Like you're proud of what you've done
And is its hopeless
If we buried all our shame?
Are we alone?
Or are we brothers just the same?
The same
Listen to the voice that whispers softly
Tells you everything you want to hear
Smile and promise
To decieve you
Watching on a king
If you leave in fear
In fear
Brother, get off your knees
'Cause this was never
Your cross to bear
And be no more decieved
'Cause we could never
Save ourselfs, so don't
Listen to the voice that whispers softly
Tells you everything you want to hear
Smile and promise
To decieve you
Watching on a king
If you leave in fear
In fear
We see the flames
Watch the fire take the sky

And see it rage
Watch our souls get burned alive

Wow memories. The first take of this song was like 9:30. Band came in the control room and asked me what I thought. I said “do you want the short answer or the long answer?” They said “long answer” and so I suggested a new arrangement. There was some negotiation to get to the 6:30 version. This spurred further collaboration on some of the arrangements for other tunes in that first album

What was so cool is when they came back for the next project, they didn’t need my help with that anymore - like at all. They were all thinking about the role each section of the song or each instrument played in the arrangement as a whole. Like a band of 6 producers. From then on I was just trying to complement whatever they did

"But you're not a king". Not "watching on a king"

So don't...

...listen to the voice that whispers softly.

That part hits me hard. I know I should stop listening to the voice that tells me 'everything I want to hear and actually start building a life for myself.

But goddamn can the voice be convincing..
