… Read Full Bio ↴Anarchy Club is a Hard Rock/Electronica duo from Boston, Massachusetts.
The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Keith Smith, who is a former member of the band C60, and Adam Buhler, who plays guitar, bass, and other instruments, and is a former member of the band Splashdown.
In the winter of 2004, long time friends Adam Buhler and Keith Smith decided to start a musical project that would eventually become Anarchy Club. Fusing their love for Asian cinema, video games, muscle cars, anime, and hard rock music, the two set to writing songs.
Their debut album, The Way and Its Power mixes everything from death metal riffs and hip hop grooves to Chinese classical and waltz beats, all with a decidedly heavy rock flavor throughout.
Anarchy Club received a boost in popularity by having their song "Behind the Mask" appear in the PlayStation 2 game Guitar Hero as a bonus track. The band also has the songs "Blood Doll" and "Get Clean" in the Rock Band game franchise. Smith is an employee of Harmonix, the company that developed Guitar Hero and counts Buhler's former bandmate, Kasson Crooker, as its Audio Director.
"Collide" (from their forthcoming release, "A Single Drop of Red") is a bonus track for Guitar Hero II. Of the 24 bonus tracks in the game, GameSpy named "Collide" as one of the five best. [1]
Keith and Adam cite their musical influences as Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails, Black Sabbath, Johnny Cash, Gorillaz, Probot, early Metallica, The Streets, Deftones, Tool, AC/DC, early Misfits, Rasputina, Queens of the Stone Age, N.E.R.D.'s first album, Dr. Dre, Chinese opera music and more.
During his time in the C60, the band won 6 Boston music awards (5 of them in one year) and shared stages with bands such as Kiss, Run DMC, Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine and others. Some of their songs were also featured in the TV shows Dawson's Creek and The Shield.
Meanwhile, Adam worked with the band Splashdown, and recorded an unreleased album with legendary producer Glen Ballard, which gave birth to a few songs who eventually appeared on the TV shows Charmed and Angel and some movies.
Anarchy Club then started working on their second studio album, called A Single Drop of Red and was released around late 2007/early 2008. One of their songs titled "Blood Doll" appeared on Harmonix's 2007 music video game Rock Band.
In late 2008, Anarchy Club started working on their third studio album, which may be called The Art Of War and is set for a release in 2009, the track "Get Clean" was released as a single on iTunes and a bonus track in Harmonix's newest music video game, Rock Band 2, in which Harmonix continued the tradition of featuring Anarchy Club songs in their games, after "Behind The Mask" in Guitar Hero, "Collide" in Guitar Hero II, "Blood Doll" in Rock Band and "Get Clean" in Rock Band 2 .

Cold steel ever effective
I am the hand behind the blade
Oh so mercenary
And always very very
A single dot of red displayed
The time has come, before the sun
Let the game begin
Another day, another sin
Get under your skin
I am the assassin
Wake up, time to die
Truth reflected in your eye
Get under your skin
I am the assassin
Darkness is a lover
when you live undercover
I am the poison in the wine
Secrets never spoken
never again awoken
and the last laugh
is always mine
I come at night, to kill the light
Behind closed doors, blood on the floor
Let the game begin
Another day, another sin
Get under your skin
I am the assassin
Wake up, time to die
Truth reflected in your eye
Get under your skin
I am the assassin
Steel on steel, attacker
I move, but he move's faster
A weapon handed down through time
Made a wrong decision
I feel a cold incision
I see the death tonight
is mine
I hesitate to face my fate
I see my chance, but all too late
Among the skilled, kill or be killed
I see the sky, it's time to die
Let the game begin
Another day, another sin
Get under your skin
I am the assassin
Wake up, time to die
Truth reflected in your eye
Get under your skin
I am the assassin
The lyrics to Anarchy Club's song "Assassins" convey the perspective of a professional assassin who has become desensitized to their own killings. The lyrics describe the assassin as a "mercenary" who is effective with "cold steel." The color red is prominently featured, symbolizing blood and death, with "a single dot of red displayed" and "blood on the floor." The assassin is portrayed as being skilled and dangerous, as they "come at night to kill the light" and are prepared to "kill or be killed" among other skilled opponents. The lyrics also suggest that the assassin takes pleasure in their work, as "the last laugh is always mine." The chorus repeatedly emphasizes the assassin's role and mentality: "Get under your skin, I am the assassin."
One notable aspect of the song is the use of contrast between light and darkness. The assassin works under the cover of darkness, but also mentions "the time has come, before the sun." This could suggest that the assassin feels more powerful and in control when they are able to complete a kill without being detected. The assassin also describes their work as being "the poison in the wine," further emphasizing their ability to operate under the surface and unnoticed.
As for the music in the song, it features a fast-paced, heavy guitar riff that drives the lyrics forward. The vocals are intense and passionate, lending weight to the lyrics' portrayal of the assassin's twisted mentality.
