Nothin' At All
Anastacia Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I suppose, for a man like you
To be the love of my life
That's a lot to ask
But somehow, I feel the right
So here I am, hey babe, with the tables turned
The fear of getting burned, your hand's been cold
I want everything
Or nothin' at all, at all
Every, every, everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you
I want everything
Or nothin' at all

I may be wrong, I've been wrong before
But I won't be a fool
Not for you this time
There's some things I'm not going through
So here I stand, hey babe, with a lot to lose
But I want to see the truth
Through your walls
I want everything

Or nothin' at all, at all
Every, every, everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you
I want everything
Or nothin' at all

You told me you love me, you told me you need me
I hear all the words that you say, what you need to do
I'm tired of feeling there's nothin' more to believe in
I won't wait for you to break my heart

So here I am, hey baby, with the tables turned
And the fear of getting burned
Your hand's been cold

I want everything
Or nothin' at all, at all
I want everything
I want everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you
I want everything
Or nothin' at all, at all

I want everything, I want everything
Now what am I to do?
You made me fall for you, you, you, you, you
Oh, nothin' at all
I said nothin' at all

I miss ya baby
You're my everything

I want everything, I want everything
Everything, everything

Overall Meaning

The song "Nothin' At All" by Anastacia is about a woman who wants to have it all or nothing at all. She falls in love with a man who is hesitant to take risks in love, afraid of getting hurt. Nevertheless, she wants to see the truth and break down the walls he has built up around himself. She is determined to have everything or nothing at all, implying that she is willing to risk it all for love but cannot settle for less than what her heart truly desires.

The song's chorus repeats the line, "I want everything or nothing at all," which emphasizes the singer's conviction that love must be all-encompassing, with no room for half-measures. The verses speak of the singer's conflict, caught between the desire for love and the fear of getting hurt. She wants to be with this man, but not at the cost of her peace of mind. In the end, she takes control of the situation and sets her terms, opting for an all-or-nothing approach.

The song's lyrics are based on the singer's own experience with love and relationships. Anastacia has said that the song reflects her belief that women should be more upfront about what they want in love and not settle for anything less. With its infectious beat and catchy chorus, "Nothin' At All" became a hit when it was released in 2002, reaching #6 on the UK Singles Chart and #32 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Such a pity that it wasn't included! It's actually better than Yo Trippin' or Wishing Well and it didn't deserve to become just a b-side

@crazycorry

The song is available on some editions of the "Cowboy & Kisses" cd single, on the Australian cd single of "Not That Kind" and on USA version of the album ... :)

@robramirez221

this song was written by the dudes who wrote Paula Abdul's "Rush, Rush" album. But Anastacia is on the polar opposite spectrum of singers. What a beast!!!! too bad USA never appreciated her.
