Celebrate
Anathallo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
From all our drunken feelings, angry words
This year I have been so bitter and
This year we've lost each other in ourselves
Mikhail, say I did my best
Here is our chance to turn
Mother, father, sister, brother, come together for each other and
Celebrate the mess and celebrate the rest
Turn it into understanding
Call our drunken angry uncle
(Import him on while ??) watching for snow
Fall and bid him welcome
Bid him welcome to our home
Redemption ringing in his lonely ears
Redemption ringing in his lonely ears
Redemption ringing in his lonely ears
Redemption ringing in his lonely ears
Celebrate our imperfections
Celebrate a new direction
Celebrate a resurrection
(Redemption ringing in his lonely ears)
Light a candle in the silent place and
Hang the wreath on the door
The lyrics to Anathallo's "Celebrate" are expressive and emotional, reflecting on the struggles of the past year and the hope for a turning point. The song acknowledges the often difficult and imperfect relationships one has with family members and loved ones, but also recognizes the potential for change and redemption.
The first stanza expresses a desire to move away from negative emotions and actions that may have caused troubles within relationships throughout the year. The singer is admitting their own faults in becoming "bitter" and losing themselves, but also holds onto hope for a fresh start. This sentiment continues in the second stanza, where the desire for familial unity and understanding is expressed. The use of "celebrate" may seem counterintuitive in this context, but it is a powerful call to embrace imperfections and mistakes as opportunities for growth and compassion.
The third stanza takes a turn, offering a message of forgiveness and redemption for even the most troublesome family member. In calling for the "drunken angry uncle" to be included in the celebrations, the singer is offering a chance for reconciliation and healing. The chorus repeats the theme of celebration and turning struggles into understanding, echoing the resilience and hope expressed throughout the song.
Overall, "Celebrate" is a powerful and emotive song that speaks to the complexities of relationships and the hope for redemption and healing.
