Ticket
Andalusion Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I, had the chance to be like you,
I gave it away for the chance,
To be myself.

I, met a man unlike myself
He chose a way to stay lonely.

Take a ticket,
on your own
Stick with it,
You're nearly home
Take a ticket,
The easy way

Take a ticket,
For the day.

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Andalusion's song "Ticket" explore the idea of conformity versus individuality. The singer reflects on a choice they made in the past, to not try and be like someone else and instead embrace their own unique self. The line "I gave it away for the chance, to be myself" shows that this decision was a difficult one, but ultimately the singer decided that being true to oneself was more important.

Later in the song, the singer mentions meeting someone who made a different choice - to stay lonely. It's not clear whether this person chose to isolate themselves intentionally or if it was a consequence of their decision to not conform to societal norms. Either way, this contrast with the singer's own choice highlights the importance of choosing one's own path in life, regardless of what others might think.

Overall, "Ticket" is a reminder to embrace one's individuality and not be afraid to take the road less traveled. It's a message that's particularly relevant in today's society, where there's often pressure to fit in and conform.

As a Spaniard I personally think the change we are seeing now will be beneficial for the Spanish HSR network.

Many reasonably argue that the government has already spent a lot of money on the rail infrastructure with up until now limited results in ridership, and it's true.

But that being said, considering how Spain's HSR has been one of the cheapest to construct per km and now boasts an already masive infrastructure I have always been of the opinion that we should make the most of it.

And finally we are seeing some major progress with things such as the implementation of this new service alongside with the introduction of foreign companies to the levante HSR to compete and increase competivenes and ridership.

This alongside with the future talgo high speed trains which are cheaper to run, more capable and have variable gauge at 300kmh+ speeds which is a huge step in technology.

Overall even though there has already been a lot of investment put into this which we haven't seen returns for so far I think that with services such as these we will slowly see fruits of the labour invested.

Fastest scheduled service from Madrid to Barcelona is 2h,30 min!

By my own calculations (using miles and miles per hour), the slower 3-hour trip has an average speed of 121 MPH. The faster 2.5-hour trip has an average speed of 155 MPH for the same trip and distance traveled. Even at the slower 121 MPH, that's quite a bit better than Amtrak's typical average speed of 85-90 MPH (top speed being 110 MPH). No, it ain't the TGV's 189-ish MPH, but it's not a slowpoke either. And at only $8, I'd do that before the $80-90 that stupid plane costs. Put another way, this low a ticket price is starting to look more like public transit as many metro systems are only a bit cheaper at an average of $1.50 to maybe $5.00 for the most expensive. AND that $8 ticket has the potential to net you some decent service and perks which are impossible on public transit trains (food, nice comfy seat, actual air conditioning - even today there are still subway trains that have no or very minimal air conditioning). Yeah, I like how this sounds for Spain's train network and I hope they can make it work.

I don't think they they add tax later. In Europe the VAT is included in the price. I don't know if Spain is an exception.

You do need to take into account conversion fees in most cases, unless you already have the appropriate currency (Euros in this case).

@Παναγιώτης Σκαρπέτας we just call that "The EU".
