Jammer!
André Hazes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Overall Meaning

André Hazes's song "Jammer!" is a poignant reminder of the irreversible destruction our actions have caused to the environment. The song opens with the lamentation that soon, we won't be able to fish anymore and that we won't be able to see any animals either. The desolation continues with the depiction of bare trees without leaves. However, the singer concedes that it's unfortunate, but that's just the way it is. He then talks about the changing world, which will soon become a mess, and how we're not sure what to do with it. Hazes highlights the fact that we can't keep all the waste on earth, so we dump it all in the sea, causing significant damage to marine life and ecosystems.

The singer then begins to wonder whether it's too late to do something to salvage the situation. He expresses his concern that children won't be able to play outside in the future due to escalating pollution levels. Concerned about the bleak future for children, he hopes that the world will return to the days of greenery, but he sees little progress in that area presently. The song expresses a grim reality, asking us, how do we fix this, and can we fix it? Or are we only capable of mourning the damage we've caused? "Jammer!" is a sobering reminder that if we fail to act decisively, the future we're looking at might be one devoid of biodiversity and natural beauty.
