Kostelanetz was known for arranging and recording light classical music pieces for mass audiences, as well as orchestral versions of songs and Broadway show tunes. He made numerous recordings over the course of his career, which had sales of over 50 million and became staples of Beautiful Music radio stations.[citation needed] For many years, Kostelanetz also conducted the New York Philharmonic in pops concerts and recordings, in which they were billed as "Andre Kostelanetz and His Orchestra".
Kostelanetz is best known to modern audiences for a series of easy listening instrumental albums on Columbia Records from the 1940s until 1980. Kostelanetz actually started making this music before there was a genre called "easy listening", and he continued until after some of his contemporaries, including Mantovani, had stopped recording.
Toward the end of his recording career, his name was more of a brand than a true representation of who actually made the music, because nearly all of his output in the 1970s was arranged by others.[citation needed] Some of the arrangers credited on 1970s Kostelanetz albums include Teo Macero, Torrie Zito, Hank Levy, Luther Henderson, Jack Cortner, Eddie Sauter, Claus Ogerman, Jack Pleis, Tommy Newsom, Harold Wheeler, Bobby Scott, Homer Dennison, James Tyler, Jr., Byron Olson, Dale Oehler, Ben Lanzarone, LaMont Johnson, Wade Marcus, Patrick Williams, Sammy Nestico, Warren Vincent, Dick Hyman, Jorge Calandrelli, James J. Wisner, Al Capps and Don Sebesky.
Kostelanetz's last concert was "A Night in Old Vienna" concert with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in the War Memorial Opera House on December 31, 1979.

You'll remember a place
Someone touching your face
You'll come back and you'll look around, you'll
One day in your life
You'll remember the love you found here
You'll remember me somehow
I will stay in your heart
And when things fall apart
You'll remember one day
One day in your life
When you find that you're always waiting
For a love we used to share
Just call my name, and I'll be there
You'll remember me somehow
Though you don't need me now
I will stay in your heart
And when things fall apart
You'll remember one day
One day in your life
When you find that you're always lonely
For a love we used to share
Just call my name, and I'll be there.
The lyrics of Andre Kostelanetz's song To Life speak about the sentimental memories one holds dear and the power these memories have over our current and future emotions. The opening lines set the stage for the recurring theme of looking back on a special time and place in one's life. The lyrics suggest that these special memories are made even more significant when attached to the people that brought this positivity into one's life.
The song communicates a sense of comfort in knowing that these positive memories, and the people associated with them, will always be with us in our hearts. The melancholic tone in Andre's voice suggests that the memories are both happy and painful at the same time, signifying the influence they hold over the present moment. These lines, "When you find that you're always waiting/For a love we used to share/Just call my name, and I'll be there" conveys Andre's willingness to help bring closure and purpose to the person's loneliness, emphasizing the value of the bond he shared with them.
To summarize, the song tells of the potent and bittersweet memories of a love once shared that linger long after the person or time has passed. The lyrics suggest that the songs' subject must hold onto the memories, the love, and the person to find solace in the present and the future.
