Solamente Una Vez
Andrea Bocelli Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Solamente una vez
Amé en la vida
Solamente una vez
Y nada más

Solamente una vez en mi huerto
Brilló la esperanza,
La esperanza que alumbra el camino
De mi soledad

Una vez nada más
Se entrega el alma
Con la dulce
y total renunciación

Y cuando ese milagro realiza
El prodigio de amarse
Hay campanas de fiesta
que cantan en mi corazón

Una vez nada más
Se entrega el alma
Con la dulce y total
Renunciación

Y cuando ese milagro realiza
El prodigio de amarse

Hay campanas de fiesta
que cantan en mi corazón

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Andrea Bocelli's song Solamente Una Vez are a poetic expression of the feeling of love and the power it holds over our hearts. The singer begins by saying that he has loved only once in his life and that there was nothing more to it. He then goes on to describe this one moment of love that he experienced in his life. This moment gave him hope, hope that illuminated the path of his loneliness. He describes it as a miracle that happens when two people fall in love.

The singer expresses that when you fall in love, it is a moment when you surrender your soul completely, with sweet and total renunciation. This surrender is the essence of true love, where two people come together as a union of souls. And when this miracle happens, and the two people start to love each other, the sound of the bells of the celebration echoes in their hearts. It is a moment of pure joy that fills them entirely.

Ultimately, the song is an ode to the power of love, and the amazing feeling that comes with it. The singer's soulful and emotional voice brings out the depth and beauty of the lyrics, making it a truly memorable piece of music.

This song is commonly known as You Belong to My Heart in the US, but the Original lirics in spanish are completely different and say another message.
This song was written by Mexican composer Agustin Lara to a friend of his that was days away of becomming a priest and quit the normal pleasures of life forever in 1941

Only Once by Agustin Lara

Only Once,
I loved life,
Only Once, and never again,
Only Once , hope shined in my garden,
The hope that enlightens the path of my solitude

Only Once,
I will give my soul,
With sweet and total renunciation,
And when that miracle happens, I will be able to love myself,
And party bells will sound in my heart,

Is a song dedicated to love life, and how it only happens once, giving you an only chance to live it at the fullest, even in your solitude or with the company of a loved one.

I was 15 years old when I went to this concert in 2006 with my parents. One of the best concerts I've ever been in. At the end of the show, they had people jumped into the water while carrying torches while fireworks adorned the night skies. I missed those days.

This was my parents' special song, although they did not understand Spanish---they heard the emotion and knew what a wonderful love song this is. I get tears now when I hear it. Lovely.
