Can't feel anything, when will I learn
I push it down, push it down
I'm the one "for a good time call"
Phone's blowin' up, they're ringin' my doorbell
I feel the love, feel the love
1, 2, 3 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3 1, 2, 3 drink
Throw em back, till I lose count
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist
Like it doesn't exist
I'm gonna fly like a bird through the night, feel my tears as they dry
I'm gonna swing from the chandelier, from the chandelier
And I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cause I'm just holding on for tonight
Help me, I'm holding on for dear life, won't look down won't open my eyes
Keep my glass full until morning light, 'cause I'm just holding on for tonight
On for tonight
Sun is up, I'm a mess
Gotta get out now, gotta run from this
Here comes the shame, here comes the shame
1, 2, 3 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3 1, 2, 3 drink
1, 2, 3 1, 2, 3 drink
Throw em back till I lose count
Andrea Faustini's "Chandelier" song captures the roller-coaster of emotions that partying can cause while trying to escape difficult situations in real life. In the beginning, the song portrays the characteristics of party girls, who don't want to think about their problems and emotions, hence the reason why they tend to get drunk so they don't feel anything. Next, the theme switches to the aftermath of partying, where the singer wakes up in a mess with feelings of shame and the need to escape. However, amidst all the chaos, the singer is still holding on for dear life while trying to ignore her troubles.
The chorus "I'm gonna live like tomorrow doesn't exist" implies the love for living in the moment and euphoria. Also, the line "Help me, I'm holding on for dear life" portrays a need for someone or something to help the singer escape her situation. The phrase "1, 2, 3 drink, throw 'em back till I lose count" shows the unhealthy coping mechanisms that party girls use to escape reality.
