Running Out
Andy Bell Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I can?t decide if I need you
The way that you hold me, try to control me
No good for my soul, no good for you
I?m only trying, hard to be truthful
You?d never hurt me, that I know
Maybe I just don?t know how to love you
Maybe I?m scared of letting go
And I think I?m running out, I worry about everything
And I think I?m running out, I worry about everything
I?ve got to believe in something solid
Stand on my own feet and keep it real
I wouldn?t say that I?m ever lonely
Want you to feel sure in yourself
I want you to love me, but not because you need me
I never knew love could be so blind
Maybe I just don?t know how to love you
Maybe I?m scared of letting go
And I think I?m running out, I worry about everything
And I think I?m running out, I worry about everything
And I think I?m running out, I worry about everything
And I think I?m running out, I worry about everything
The lyrics of Andy Bell's "Running Out" describe the internal struggle of a person who is torn between their desire to be loved and their fears of vulnerability and emotional pain. The persona in the song is in a constant state of indecision, unable to decide whether they need the other person or not. They acknowledge that the relationship is not good for their soul, but they still want to be truthful with their partner. They are afraid of getting hurt but at the same time want to be loved.
The repeated line "And I think I'm running out, I worry about everything" reflects the persona's anxiety and fear of losing everything, including their relationship. They are not sure how to love the other person, and this lack of knowledge is creating a distance between them. The persona's desire to be loved is genuine, but they want their partner to love them out of choice, not necessity.
Overall, the lyrics of "Running Out" highlight the human desire for love and the fear of being vulnerable. The persona is trying to find a balance between their emotions and logic, and it's causing them to feel lost and disconnected. The song encourages the listeners to be honest with themselves, to understand their emotions, and to learn to love themselves before they can love someone else.
