1) A southern boy at heart, Andy Davis works with what he knows best: charm. Quirky, clever, talented and tender, Andy writes music to make you look for a soft hand to hold. With a movie-maker's eye for storytelling, he shows that every glimpse in life tells a story and that every saga must be distilled into vignettes. Andy is a rare talent: an unplugged Whiskeytown-era Ryan Adams crossed with a latter-day Billy Joel, without the self-destructive tendencies of either. Surprisingly soulful for a young man whose peers spend more time cruising than crooning, Andy Davis writes songs that make us remember things too important to have forgotten: incomprehensible faith, the torture of deep emotion, and belief in boundless possibilities. Everyone rushes past these quiet monoliths on our way through young adulthood, and Andy's music makes us want to go back and find them. His songs make you remember your firsts: first kiss, first love, first date, first heartbreak. It's the accessibility of Andy's agony and ecstasy that makes you feel what it's like to be a poet. Life becomes less complicated when we grasp the essence of true living. The music of Andy Davis beckons like a whisper through the cacophony of smooth snake oil vendors. It's uncorrupted rawness, genuine and unpretentious -- authenticity unencumbered by fake industry.
Born in Louisiana and later migrating with his family to the southeast, Andy grew up listening to oldies and gospel music before moving to Nashville for college. With musical influences from David Wilcox to Stevie Wonder to Radiohead to Rufus Wainwright, it's no surprise that Andy writes like a poet, plays a slew of instruments (from drum kit to trumpet), and rocks out on stage. Runway Network is currently promoting Andy's independent album titled, "Thinks of Her."
2) Andy Davis (born Andrew Cresswell-Davis 10 August 1949) is a music producer, member of Stackridge , former member of The Korgis. Stackridge are a West Country based group who were at the height of their success, such as it was, during the 1970s but are reformed and still playing today. Davis, who lives in Bath, was also in The Korgis - a British pop band, originally composed of singer / bassist James Warren (born 25 August 1951, Bristol) and singer / drummer Davis, along with unofficial members guitarist Stuart Gordon and keyboardist Phil Harrison. Davis has also played with Goldfrapp. He played acoustic guitar and sang backing vocals on John Lennon's Imagine album.
Let The Woman
Andy Davis Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Won't make her feel better
What she really wants is for
Us to be together
Sweet talk late night
Over the phone
It's not bad but it's not
When I think to myself
Her long kisses do pull me in
I start to miss her again
Start wondering, how long has it been?
Let the woman I love
Just walk in
That's what I need
Please, if the woman I love could
Just walk in
That would be good for me
(Let the woman I love
Let the woman I love
Let the woman I love
Walk in, walk in)
I can see her in her
High heel walking people
Stealing a look as she
Digs in her pocketbook
It's strange to me
I still can't believe
How the girl ended up with a
Minister's son like me
Another night I haven't spoken to her
Another hotel bed
And she's stuck in my head
And my heart, it's been hanging by a thread
Andy Davis's Let The Woman is a song that reflects the feelings of the singer, who is missing his loved one, a woman, and he hopes to be reunited with her soon. The lyrics convey a sense of longing, desperation, and helplessness that the singer feels while he is away from his loved one, and despite being successful in his career, he misses the emotional security and intimacy that their relationship brings. The opening line of the song, "Handbag leather won't make her feel better," suggests that the singer understands that money or material possessions are not enough to pacify his loved one's emotional turmoil, and she needs the reassurance of his presence and affection.
The next few lines of the song describe how the singer is trying to keep the flame alive, even though he is away from his loved one, by calling her and having sweet talks late at night. However, he admits that it is not the same as being home and feels a void in his life. The lines, "When I think to myself her long kisses do pull me in, I start to miss her again, start wondering, how long has it been," reflect the singer's desire to be in the physical company of his loved one and how even a thought of her pulls him back to the reality of his loneliness.
The chorus of the song, "Let the woman I love just walk in, that's what I need, please, if the woman I love could just walk in, that would be good for me," is the crux of the song, and the singer is hoping for a magical moment where his loved one would walk into his life, and everything would be right again. He imagines how she would look in her high heels walking down to him, and it would put his heart and mind at ease. The song ends with the singer expressing his plight of being stuck in a hotel room, away from his loved one, and how his heart is hanging by a thread, emphasizing the emotional turmoil that he is going through.
