All We Are
Andy Kong Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Are we born for something bigger than
A simple life on tracks?
Station to station
Just pressing time to the finish line
Are we fooling our imaginations?
Like ships on the shore, or planes on the floor
Or trains on the highway
You're a colorful soul in a technicolor world
While you're livin' it black and white
Where we are
Is not all we are
It's the path we've run so far
Have you ever felt so alive?
You feel the blood in your veins like ice
Melting down your spine
Oh, have you fallen in love?
Felt that shiver, that shift in your soul
Crashing down like a wave
On the seaside, on the seaside, oh
Running through knee-high grass
Chasing you through fields of green and gold
Like kids we played until the end of the day
No fear of growing old
Hear the crash and the waves
Feel the sun on my face
Kiss the sweat off your lips, babe
Taste the salt in the air
Smell the flowers in you hair
Feel your fingers wrapped in mine
And where we are
Is not all we are
It's the path we've run so far
Have you ever felt so alive?
You feel the blood in your veins like ice
Melting down your spine
Oh, have you fallen in love?
Felt that shiver, that shift in your soul
Crashing down like a wave

On the seaside, on the seaside, oh
Is this all we are?

Overall Meaning

you know I feel like I resonate with these type of songs since it makes me feel like I'm in a forever state of searching where I can't find the person I yearn for. I'm not looking for the perfect one but the feeling you get when you can't decide your fate but just ride the waves to where ever it takes you. It's a surreal feeling and when I think about it it's crazy to imagine that sometimes I believe that I'll find her somewhere in this vast world. She'll be there waiting while I search and search till I get weak and bruised. It's all in vain though since the time it takes is so long that we would have moved on and the love that was there will forever be lost. A love that never came into fruition but buried deep down. It pulses with life not dead but not alive either. It stays locked up but gives a faint ripple that you'll feel for a long time. A regret that lingers. A seed that was planted where it's roots burry deep but its stem never to resurface for the light is dim and the water is little...... i'm drunk
