Life Goes On
Andy Taylor Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Although I stand alone
I'm more dangerous than I seem
But in this smoking gun world
Our lights don't last
They're over fast
Life goes on
On and on
Life goes on
Goes on and on
On and on
Although I really don't know
Your time is fading fast
I wake up in a wasted world
How long is it gonna last
Under pressure and pain
What may be right may be wrong
The lyrics to Andy Taylor's Life Goes On seem to convey a sense of loneliness and isolation, but also a hidden danger within the singer. The opening line, "Somebody better look out for me," suggests that the singer is aware of the potential harm they could cause if pushed too far. Though they may appear harmless or vulnerable, they are more dangerous than they appear. This could be interpreted as a warning to those who have wronged or underestimated the singer, or simply an acknowledgement of their own inner strength and resilience.
The second half of the song is more introspective, with the repeated refrain of "Life goes on" suggesting a sense of acceptance or resignation. The world may be full of smoke and danger, and our lives may be short and fleeting, but we must keep moving forward. The line "Although I really don't know / Your time is fading fast" could be interpreted as a reflection on mortality, or perhaps a warning to someone who is taking their life for granted. The final stanza, "Under pressure and pain / What may be right may be wrong," suggests the moral ambiguity of life, and the difficulty of making the right choices when faced with obstacles and challenges.
