The Puzzle
Ane Brun Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I walked into love
I walked into a minefield
I never heard of

I walked into love
I walked into a minefield
I never heard of
Her remains were spread out like the pieces of a puzzle
it took her 365 days putting them together
the pieces were quite difficult to distinguish from eachother
they were tiny and the clear blue sky
went on forever

Clearly the corners were an easy start
that was when everyone was still
helping me out
when it was time to fill in the frames
they left – they thought I ought
to have gotten over you
by then

Her remains were spread out like the pieces of a puzzle
it took her 365 days putting them together
the pieces were quite difficult to distinguish from eachother
they were tiny and the clear blue sky
went on forever

I wouldn´t do that to you
I wouldn´t do that to you
I wouldn´t do that to you
I wouldn´t do that to you

I walked into love
I walked into a minefield
I never heard of

I walked into love
I walked into a minefield

I never heard of
I never heard of…

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ane Brun's "The Puzzle" are a poetic and powerful representation of the difficult and intricate process that comes with trying to piece together the remnants of a failed relationship. The metaphor of a puzzle is used to paint a picture of the fragmented remains of a past love, with the singer struggling to reconnect the pieces back together.

The opening lines convey the idea of walking into a new relationship without being aware of the potential difficulties and hazards. The singer acknowledges that they are treading on new ground, with risks that they did not expect to encounter. As the song progresses, the lyrics reveal the painstaking effort that goes into trying to "fix" the broken relationship. The puzzle pieces are described as being difficult to discern and merge together, with the clear blue sky representing the endless possibilities of the future.

The chorus emphasizes the idea that the singer would never want to cause harm or further pain to their former love. Despite the struggles and difficulties they are facing, they remain committed to the idea that they would not want to intentionally bring someone else into their own personal minefield of emotions and challenges.

Overall, the lyrics of "The Puzzle" are filled with vivid imagery, unexpected twists, and a deep and resonating emotional weight. The metaphor of the puzzle is used to convey the difficulty of repairing a broken relationship, while the chorus emphasizes the values of empathy, compassion, and self-awareness in any romantic endeavors.

yürüdüm aşka
yürüdüm mayın tarlasına hiç duymamış gibi
yürüdüm aşka
yürüdüm mayın tarlasına hiç duymamış gibi

onun kalıntıları etrafa saçılıyor yapboz parçaları gibi
365 gün alıyor bir araya getirmek hepsini
parçaları birbirinden ayırt etmek zor
küçüklerdi ve açık mavi gökyüzü sonsuza ilerliyor

köşeler kolay bir başlangıç gibi
herkesin içinden çıkmama yardım ettiği zaman bu
boşlukları doldurma zamanı,kalanları
onlar senden kurtulmam gerektiğini düşünmüştü

onun kalıntıları etrafa saçılıyor yapboz parçaları gibi
365 gün alıyor bir araya getirmek hepsini
parçaları birbirinden ayırt etmek zor
küçüklerdi ve açık mavi gökyüzü sonsuza ilerliyor

sana bunu yapmazdım
sana bunu yapmazdım
sana bunu yapmazdım
sana bunu yapmazdım

yürüdüm aşka
yürüdüm mayın tarlasına hiç duymamış gibi
yürüdüm aşka

I saw her at Ani DiFranco last night! I didn't think I'd pay attention to anyone except Ani but I mean her stage presence and her humbleness caught my attention! She was so innocent and her voice was beautiful, and the way she just addressed the crowd in general was amazing! I'm so glad Ani chose her to open she's so talented and amazing!

Ane! Detta är den bästa låten jag hört på flera år! Fantastiskt, jag får aldrig nog. Kul att du bor i Stockholm, trodde du var en stor världskändis bosatt i USA. Lycka till med framtida musik! Linis
