Anette's songs are simple and emotive. Her music is inventive, mysterious and creates a unique dark and curious atmosphere.
The CD «Liberty» is produced by Øystein Sevåg and some of the contributing musicians are Audun Erlinen, Rune Arnesen, Petter Wettre and the string quartet Katharsis.
On her debutalbum ”Liberty” Anette has created an album where the spontaneous, the simple and almost naive is combined with sophisticated band- arrangements and cascades of sound.
The music is inspired by multitudes of styles like pop, jazz, electronica, experimental, folk, rock and classical music.
Anette has toured in Germany, London and New York to great success.
Musically she is attracted to what´s simple, appealing and immediate. But music is to her much more than what´s confined to a particular form: For Anette, music is everywhere, in the trees, in the streets, on the tram and in the relationships between people.
”Liberty” was released in Oslo with a huge releaseconcert with full band, saxophone, string quartet and a choir on stage.
Some say her voice is similar to the late Norwegian singer Radka Toneff.
Anette is currently living in Oslo. Over the last year she’s been composing music for the Norwegian Television station NRK. She is about to record her second album, which will be released in spring 2014.

Light
Anette Askvik Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It grows inside of you
You can have it
Breathe through you
And be through you
Already you have it all
Is it love
What have you done
Is it love
What you don't see
When it's so obvious
When you keep filling it up
To scream louder
To not hear
To think it's clever
But it's just fear
Already you have it all
What have you done
Is it love
What have you done
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
Is it love
In Anette Askvik's song "Light," the lyrics describe the idea that each individual has a light that grows within themselves. This light can be harnessed and breathed through, connecting the individual with something greater than themselves. The chorus poses the questions "What have you done? Is it love?" emphasizing the idea that this light is linked to a deep sense of love and fulfillment.
The first verse encourages listeners to tap into the light within themselves, reminding them that they already have everything they need. The second verse touches on the idea that sometimes we become blind to what is obvious, possibly filling ourselves with distractions to avoid confronting feelings of fear. The repeated refrain of "Is it love" echoes the message that love and our inner light are inextricably linked.
As a whole, the song suggests that we can find peace and meaning by connecting to our inner selves and allowing that light to guide us. It reminds us that we all possess this shining light within us, and it's up to each person to tap into it and let it shine.
