Biography
"I was raised in a musical family and I've been singing since childhood. My mom also forced me to play the oboe for 8 years! I toured constantly with my mom and her band in my childhood, sometimes I even sang on stage with them." - Anette, from her website.
After she turned 13, she started competing in several talent shows. She joined her first real band when she was just 17, in which they performed covers. After that band, Anette joined Alyson Avenue, first just as a studio singer, then later as their leading lady. They released two albums together.
At the age of 21, she played the leading role in a rock opera/musical called "Gränsland" in Helsingborg. After that, she got in to the Balettakademien in Gothenburg. She had been in several other bands over the years, sung in choirs, done studio work for various projects and occasionally been a wedding singer.
In her earlier days she took singing lessons at the Copenhagen Music Conservatory in Helsingör, Denmark with a private teacher. She takes lessons from a private teacher at the Malmö Music University and also uses the book and CD from vocal coach Cathrine Sadolin.
Floating
Anette Olzon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Walking slowly on my two bare feet
Gentle grass under me as I sweep
On and on and on, on and on I´m
Floating - Floating
Someone´s calling me from underneath
From the voices far within the deep
On and on and on, on and on I´m
Flowing - Flowing - Swaying - Floating
Flowing - Flowing - Swaying - Floating
Magic wonders in the golden breeze
Changing daily and surrounding me
In the eyeglass I can see them freeze
On and on and on, on and on I´m
Floating - Falling - Floating - Flying
Falling - Falling - Floating - Flying
On and on... Falling - Falling - Floating - Flying
The lyrics of Anette Olzon's song "Floating" depict a sense of tranquility and peacefulness. The opening verse describes the singer's serene surroundings, with little birds singing from the trees and gentle grass beneath her feet. She then enters a state of flow, represented by the repetition of "on and on" and "flowing" and "floating." The second verse describes a distant call from beneath, which she listens to attentively. The third verse describes elements of nature that seem to be frozen in time in her "eyeglass." The last verse brings the song to a close with the repetition of "falling," "floating," and "flying."
Overall, the song's lyrics suggest a fluidity between the self and surroundings. The singer is immersed in the natural world around her, yet detached and in control of her own movement, represented by the theme of floating and falling.
