1. After Cherry People disbanded, Punky Meadows and Mickie Jones formed Daddy Warbux, later BUX, which released one album. Angel formed after the two met Gregg Giuffria and then Barry Brandt and Frank Dimino, choosing the name "Angel".
Angel were discovered by Kiss bassist Gene Simmons who secured them a deal with Casablanca Records in 1975. The original members of the band were Barry Brandt on drums, "Punky" Meadows on guitar, Frank DiMino on vocals, Greg Giuffria on keyboards and Mickey Jones on bass. Their self-titled debut album, Angel, released in 1975, was an excellent bit of heavy pomp rock, and their lyrics dealt with battles and events in history. They developed an exciting stage concept which was based on the pure colour of white with various illusions and effects and this won them many fans. Their second album, "Helluva Band", released in 1976, featured one of their best tracks, the lengthy "The Fortune Tower ", was most notable as one of their few tunes to grace the air waves. Our featured album saw Angel adopt a more pop/rock sound and introduced a novel logo which read identically when upside down. Micky Jones was later replaced by Felix Robinson and featured on the follow-up album, "White Hot", also released in 1977, along with On Earth As It Is In Heaven. In 1979, Angel were involved in the movie "Foxes" with Cherie Currie , but were later dropped by Casabalanca because of lack of sales. The group split in 1980 after the "Live Without A Net" live album, with Giuffria forming his own outfit with guitarist Craig Goldy, bassist Chuck Wright and drummer Alan Krigger. Giuffria also later featured in House of Lords.
Angel reformed in the late nineties with two original members: Barry Brandt and Frank DiMino. A new album, "In the Beginning", was released in 1999. The album included contributions from various musicians as well guest appearances by Punky Meadows and Felix Robinson. Since then Angel has continued to tour and has been invited to perform at several major festivals including Sweden Rock and Bang Your Head. The current lineup includes: Frank DiMino, Barry Brandt, guitarist Steve Blaze (Lillian Axe/Near Life Experience), keyboardist Michael T. Ross (Lita Ford/Hardline) and bassist Randy Gregg (Thin Lizzy/Lauren Harris).
In 2008 Lovember Records reissued “On Earth As It Is In Heaven” as a Limited Edition. The album has been digitally remastered and includes a 16-page booklet with liner notes by journalist Dave Reynolds (Classic Rock Magazine/Kerrang), a track-by-track run down by singer Frank DiMino, all lyrics and unreleased photos.

Long Time
Angel Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I tell myself that things will change.
But you see, when I wake up from my dreaming,
It's still the same, I can't believe you've gone away.
I look for words to bring you back.
Can't you see, it won't let go of me,
Please let me be, and set me free.
'Cause you see, when I wake up from my dreaming,
It's still the same, I can't believe you've gone away.
The tears that I cry,
Can't you see, it's been a long time, long time, long time, long time...
Give it to me, me yeah, yeah...
I try and realize you're gone,
I tell myself that wanting you is wrong.
No matter what I say or do,
Got to learn, it's easy to forget you.
Words won't stop the pains I have inside,
Got to change the feelings that I hide.
And now the only thing left to do, is to tell ya, the only way I ever knew, now listen man...
An empty room's become an old routine,
And locked inside is all my pride.
All my tears, have run down through the years,
I'm wanting more and more of you.
I walk the streets, though they're raked with rain,
Through lonely days, the lonely nights won't stop the pain.
Yeah, living on, since time is done,
I feel this bad, yes everywhere.
For the things we had in yesterday,
And the times we shared, the times we stayed.
Long time, long time, long time, long time, long time....
Give it to me, give it to me, give it to me.
Can't you see?
The song Long Time by Angel is a desperate plea from someone who has lost a loved one but can't seem to let go. The first verse sets the tone with the singer sitting in his old and dusty room, trying to convince himself that things will change but when he wakes up from his dreaming, the reality of the situation hits him hard. The pain of losing this person has yet to subside and he struggles to believe that they're really gone. The second verse sees him writing letters by the candlelight, searching for the words that will bring his loved one back but realizing that it won't let go of him. He desperately begs to be set free from this feeling, but he knows deep down that it won't be easy to forget them.
The chorus repeats the phrase "long time" several times, which only emphasizes the pain and longing the singer feels. He tries to tell himself that he needs to forget this person, but he can't seem to shake the memories and the pain inside. The third verse sees him walking the streets, through lonely days and nights, still haunted by this person's absence. The song closes with the singer acknowledging that it's been a long time since the person left, but he still feels the same as he did on the day they left.
Overall, Long Time is a raw and emotional track that captures the pain of loss and the struggle to let go. It's a relatable song for anyone who has experienced heartbreak and the lingering feelings that can follow.
