Bleed
Angel Dust Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Frightened Shadows
Appear behind the light
And the coldness seizes me
A paralyzing pain catches me again
Can anybody tell me what's going on
Another day is over
See horror on the screen
The shadows gonna
Touch my heart
A skeleton hand
That bears all the grief
Does lightly stroke my sleeping empathy

Can I leave and close my eyes
For one more night
Can I pay to be set free
Of all this pain
That makes me bleed

Gotta meet the pries
And ask for his help
Will the collection
Heal my soul
Can money clear the temple
Of prejudice and lies
Can I reach heaven and enter paradise

Can I leave and close my eyes
For one more night
Can I pay to be set free
Of all this pain
That makes me bleed

Love and faith
Future and hope
Never appear in their lives
Has all guilt been payed
By the death of Christ
Or is there something to apologize

Can I leave and close my eyes
For one more night
Can I pay to be set free

Of all this pain
That makes me bleed

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Angel Dust's song, Bleed, express a deep sense of fear and uncertainty, as the singer struggles to come to terms with the darkness and pain haunting them. The verses describe how shadows and coldness seem to be closing in, causing a paralyzing pain that the singer cannot escape from. The lyrics suggest a sense of disconnection from the outside world, as the singer is trapped in their own thoughts and emotions, seeking relief from the suffering.

The singer's desperation is further highlighted in their search for answers and solutions, including the possibility of seeking help from a priest and relying on financial resources to "pay to be set free". The lyrics offer a glimpse of the singer's inner turmoil and the deep questions and doubts that accompany their pain, as they ponder whether the death of Christ was enough to pay for all guilt or whether there is still a need for apologies. Despite the darkness and uncertainty, the chorus expresses a glimmer of hope, as the singer longs for the prospect of leaving and closing their eyes for one more night, hoping for some relief from the pain that makes them bleed.

Overall, Bleed is a powerful song that explores complex themes of pain, suffering, faith, and hope, revealing the inner turmoil of a character struggling to come to terms with their life's struggles.

I discovered this band back in the late 90's. I'm only missing the 2nd and last albums ("To Dust You Will Decay" and "Of Human Bondage"from them but I've always loved this song and their version of "Temple Of The King" from the DIO tribute album and the expanded edition of this album (both of which I own as well as the original version of Bleed). Awesome stuff! :D
