Angel came of age in the golden era of NYCs legendary disco and house scene. Always on the prowl for inspired sounds, in 82 he was a regular for the late night underground groove at Jellybeans Funhouse. However, it wasnt until a friend introduced him to the magic of the Paradise Garage that he discovered home. The Garage wasnt just another club for Angel, it was everything, like living in a dream. When you have danced in a place that amazing - you start to set pretty high standards. The Garage sparked a fire in Angel that he carries till today.
While spinning at a house party early in his career, a chance encounter with veteran producer Victor Simonelli turned into a studio session. Angel was a natural. In 1993 he sacrificed the security of his day job, traded in his beloved sports car and founded Hot n Spycy Recordings. From his very first productions The Moraes Sound was making waves. His creative approach to engineering and mastering, mixing up deep beats, dirty bass lines, industrial sounds, and stirring vocals established Angel as a highly respected and sought after Producer and Remixer - including projects for The Pet Shop Boys, KD Lang, Jamie Myerson, Jocelyn Brown, Loleatta Holloway, and most recently Suzanne Palmer, Roy Davis Jr., and Dana Divine (please see Discog for complete list).
With the 1995 release of the now classic underground anthem ..Welcome to the Factory.., word rapidly began to spread, the tracks began to chart, and Angel..s skills in the booth came into heavy demand. An intensive touring schedule has made him a well-known name and a regular favorite throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Angel opted on Montreal, Canada to establish his long-coming inspiration .. a custom analog sound system that would rival all others. After two years of painstaking planning, in 1998 the Stereo afterhours club was born. Soon after opening, the custom designed installation became a Mecca for international dance-floor aficionados and talents alike, all seeking to take part in what has been described as a ..one-of-a-kind.. experience. Angel continues to explore and expand upon his sonic achievements. In 2005 Angel completed a custom sound installation at Boston..s Underbar .. where he holds down a monthly residency going into its second year.
In the grand tradition of New York City..s legendary nightlife, November 2006, Angel brings home a life long dream with the opening of Stereo, NY. Complete with his signature Moraes sound, twice monthly Angel will be presenting his Dark & Delicious night.
2004 marked the launch of Soundworks, Angel..s custom-built recording studio (www.angelmoraes.com). Angel..s renewed creative energy in the studio has captured the attention of both industry heavyweights and music lovers alike. Angel..s recent releases, including, the anthem You Should..ve Said (I Love You) ft. Dana Divine, on Stealth Records, the follow up Music is your life (keep on dancin..), ft. Dana Divine on Star 69, underground remix hit The Freaks on Nuuf Music have been rocking dancefloors worldwide.
2006 releases include: Tell Me, Angel..s Dream Mix on Tweek..d, Stay Around (For This) remix and edit on Subliminal/Milk & Sugar, What I..m Saying ft Dana Divine original production, and the Roy Davis Jr . Good Life remix on Mile End Records, and most recently, the break-out A DEEPer Sensation ft. Rachelle on Subliminal. Get ready to riiide the rhythm, This is Angel of the underground.

Guerreiros do novo século vivendo no subsolo
Não me espanta tanta trama.
Eles querem me deter me jogar em Alcatraz
A toa na boa na louca
Lombra, quizomba
Dispositivo de arromba,
Com água de coco na sombra
E depois que cai não levanta,
Festeja sempre ele explana
Domina Copacabana
Mantém pose de bacana
Se a caridade reclama
Não doa nem uma banana
Leva amargura pra cama
Vendendo vaga no céu eu me estresso, protesto, me altero
Fazendo a rebelião surround system auto stereo
Eles querem me deter me jogar em Alcatraz
Até minha própria família, me aponta e descrimina...
Vai pra puta-que-pariu, no carro do Damon Hill!
Do tédio eu fujo, o barrel do prédio, cimento e ferro
O prego do prego, inquieto, segurando o teto
The lyrics of Angel Moraes's song "I Like It" address the challenges faced by people living in a society that is marked by economic dictatorship camouflaged under the guise of democracy. The lyrics talk about how urban exiles are living on the fringes of society, fighting not to go hungry, armed with their skills and living in subsurface conditions. These new century warriors take drugs to manage their dependence and use this to work. They operate in the shadows and emerge here and there through acts of rebellion that sometimes turn violent. The song talks of their struggles to have basic human needs met in the midst of extreme poverty.
Furthermore, the lyrics discuss how the singer must walk with caution because it is difficult to believe the truth around them. The lyrics reject corruption while demanding freedom and hope. They criticize societal hypocrisy and authoritarian behavior. The artist notes that they write music for the soul, not just to appeal to music's more superficial aspects. They also talk about hardships such as poverty and violence, and how these experiences make them adept at improvisation.

Oh my god! I have been looking for the name of this remix for almost 25 years....and now i have finally found it!!
This version was on a very popular 1997 mix cd: it the 8th Album by DJ jean, but it did not list the correct name of the remix....Literally zero of many the DJ Vinyl Stores in Amsterdam in that time knew which version that was...let alone could they sell it to me...
I was obsessed with finding it!!
Now i can finally rest 😊
Thank you so much for posting it!

this track has been my SONG since first hearing it in South Beach ('96-'97) during DJ JoJo Oddesy's legendary sets at various spaces; DJ 5ive (NYC) DJ Bugie (SF)) and a few other outstanding talents still work it into their sets occasionally . . I.Mark Picchiotti is a genius; his remix makes this song easily the most perfect dance track potentially ever recorded. (For those who can really, really dance) ... AMAZING
