Beauty and the Beast
Angela Lansbury; Jerry Orbach Lyrics

Be our guest
Put our service to the test
Tie your napkin 'round your neck, cherie
And we provide the rest
Soup du jour
Hot hors d'oeuvres
Why, we only live to serve
Don't believe me? Ask the dishes
They can sing
They can dance
After all, Miss, this is France
And a dinner here is never second best
Go on, unfold your menu
Take a glance and then you'll
Be our guest
Oui, our guest
Be our guest
Beef ragout
Cheese souffle
Pie and pudding "en flambe"
We'll prepare and serve with flair
A culinary cabaret
You're alone
And you're scared
But the banquet's all prepared
No one's gloomy or complaining
While the flatware's entertaining
We tell jokes
I do tricks
With my fellow candlesticks
And it's all in perfect taste that you can bet
Come on and lift your glass
You've won your own free pass
To be out guest
If you're stressed
It's fine dining we suggest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Life is so unnerving
For a servant who's not serving
He's not whole without a soul to wait upon
Ah, those good old days when we were useful
Suddenly those good old days are gone
Ten years we've been rusting
Needing so much more than dusting
Needing exercise, a chance to use our skills
Most days we just lay around the castle
Flabby, fat and lazy
You walked in and oops-a-daisy!
It's a guest
It's a guest
Sakes alive, well I'll be blessed
Wine's been poured and thank the Lord
I've had the napkins freshly pressed
With dessert
She'll want tea
And my dear that's fine with me
While the cups do their soft shoeing
I'll be bubbling, I'll be brewing
I'll get warm
Piping hot
Heaven's sakes! Is that a spot?
Clean it up! We want the company impressed
We've got a lot to do
Is it one lump or two
For you, our guest
She's our guest
She's our guest
She's our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Our command is your request
It's ten years since we had anybody here
And we're obsessed
With your meal
With your ease
Yes, indeed, we aim to please
While the candlelight's still glowing
Let us help you
We'll keep going
Course by course
One by one
'Til you shout,enough, I'm done
Then we'll sing you off to sleep as you digest
Tonight you'll prop your feet up
But for now, let's eat up
Be our guest
Be our guest
Be our guest
Please, be our guest
The lyrics of "Be Our Guest" paint a vivid picture of a grand feast hosted by the enchanted objects of a castle in France. The objects, led by Lumiere and Cogsworth, invite the singer, Belle, to experience their hospitality and indulge in various gourmet dishes. The song begins with a welcome gesture, urging the guest to put their service to the test and enjoy the delicious spread. The next few lines introduce the cuisine, including the soup du jour, hot hors d'oeuvres, and the famous grey stuff. The objects boast the culinary skills of the chefs and encourage Belle to try everything.
The second verse of the song shows the objects' eagerness to entertain their guest. They highlight the entertainment options, which include singing and dancing by the dishes and flatware to keep the guest entertained. Lumiere, the candelabra, showcases his tricks with the other candlesticks. The objects aim for a perfect evening, appealing to Belle to lift her glass and enjoy the free pass she has earned. The final verse shows the objects' emotional state before Belle's arrival. They lament their stagnant existence, longing to serve someone and have purpose once again. But with Belle's arrival, they are overjoyed and eager to serve.

@HopeKing
She literally IS Mrs. Pots.
In all the rolls I've seen her in and interviews she is always like Mrs. POTS.
@oxnyxws
I believe that is why Disney can be so amazing is they do cast for someone who is the character
@DonnyDunne
@@JJJoeJoe Mrs Pots was and does indeed become human again in beauty and the beast.
@conortoms9575
No she's miss price !
@littlesongbird1
I know..I realize she was in Sweeney Todd and also Murder She Wrote but I agree..to me she is Mrs. Pots.
@slashbash1347
Figuratively. She's not an actual talking teapot. That's just make-believe.

Dame Angela Lansbury is 95 years old in 2020. She did this when she was 65-66 years old. Talk about an absolute legend
Edit: Oct 11,2022- Angela Lansbury passed away at age 96. A true icon has left us but she leaves behind numerous memorable works to honor her with.
@jessicalillianweinberg4401
It was during the same era she was Jessica Fletcher! And while I think people recognize her as both Jessica and Mrs. Potts, what is less obvious is that Jerry Orbach, who is Detective Briscoe on Law and Order, and was a detective friend of Jessica's, Harry McGraw, is Lumiere. I mean, I can hear Angela Lansbury's voice from Mrs. Potts - Orbach managed to sound very different as a French guy.
And I love how Jessica completely remakes her life (becoming a writer, adopting a new lifestyle) in her 50s and 60s.

@@dementednun1175 Who asked you to be a Debbie downer? Let us celebrate the legends that are Angela Lansbury and Jerry Orbach.
@Turt3752
@@dementednun1175 keeping your voice in good shape and keeping your breath support into old age is not very common in Broadway due to their extremely demanding performance schedules. George Foreman is a legendary boxer for somehow winning a title at 45, and Angela Lansbury is a legend for still performing well into her 60s and even 80s.
