With a cult following, McCluskey is remembered for a car promotion: her voice is heard on Télépopmusik's song "Breathe" in a Mitsubishi ad.
The former lead singer of Wild Colonials released her debut solo CD, The Things We Do, in 2004. Recorded in only a few days in New York and Sweden, the album showcases McCluskey's extraordinary, raw vocals.
In 2009, McCluskey released her second solo album, You Could Start a Fight in an Empty House, including the track "Handle with Grace" (featuring Télépopmusik).
Don't look back

What's behind the other door
No more silence, don't kill this thing we got called love
Just searching for the perfect drug
When Love comes calling
Don't look back
When love comes calling
And I'm standing over here
Watching you over there
Smiling, happy, unaware
Oh, life is spinning round
You're going underground, forgetting who we were
Let's try and keep it just one more day
You take your love
And throw it all around
Like it's nothing special
Just a sound
Let me say one more thing
I don't think you realize
That a day is like a year sometime
The song "Don't Look Back" by Angela McCluskey/Télépopmusik is a beautiful piece about the complexities of love and the fear of losing it. The lyrics "Sit Still, and close your eyes, What's behind the other door" suggest that the singer is in a state of uncertainty about where the relationship is going and what lies ahead. The next line "No more silence, don't kill this thing we got called love" implies that the singer fears that staying silent may lead to a breakdown in their relationship, and they need to communicate and work through their problems.
The following lyrics "Just searching for the perfect drug" can be interpreted in a few ways. It could be a metaphor for finding the perfect substance that can take away their pain or numb their emotions. The drug could also represent love, and the singer is searching for the perfect kind of love that can make everything better. The chorus "When Love comes calling, Don't look back, When love comes calling, Don't look away" emphasizes the importance of seizing the moment and not shying away from love when it presents itself.
In the next verse, the singer observes their partner and notes how happy they seem. However, they also see that their partner is "going underground, forgetting who we were," suggesting that their partner is changing and perhaps losing touch with the essence of their relationship. The line "Let's try and keep it just one more day" shows the singer's efforts to hold onto their love, even if only for a little longer. The concluding verse states that the singer feels their love is taken for granted, and the line "That a day is like a year sometime" underscores the depth of their emotions and the pain of watching their love slip away.
