Wuthering Heights
Angra feat. Tarja & Uli Jon Roth Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Out on the wiley, windy moors
We'd roll and fall in green.
You had a temper like my jealousy:
Too hot, too greedy.
How could you leave me,
When I needed to possess you?
I hated you. I loved you, too.
Bad dreams in the night.
They told me I was going to lose the fight,
Leave behind my wuthering, wuthering
Wuthering Heights.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Ooh, it gets dark! It gets lonely,
On the other side from you.
I pine a lot. I find the lot
Falls through without you.
I'm coming back, love.
Cruel Heathcliff, my one dream,
My only master.

Too long I roam in the night.
I'm coming back to his side, to put it right.
I'm coming home to wuthering, wuthering,
Wuthering Heights,

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Ooh! Let me have it.
Let me grab your soul away.
Ooh! Let me have it.
Let me grab your soul away.
You know it's me--Cathy!

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!
Let me in-a-your window.

Heathcliff, it's me--Cathy.
Come home. I'm so cold!

Overall Meaning

The song Wuthering Heights, which is a collaboration between Angra, Tarja Turunen, and Uli Jon Roth, is an interpretation of the book of the same title by Emily Bronte. The song opens with a narration of the lonely and windy moors where the writer and her lover used to roll and fall in green. The writer questions her lover's decision to leave her when she needed him the most. She admits to hating him and also loving him at the same time, implying that their relationship was a complex one, driven by jealousy and greed.

The second verse portrays the writer having bad dreams, which indicate that she is about to lose the fight. She is hopeful that she will be able to come back to Wuthering Heights, her home. She speaks directly to Heathcliff, her lover, and begs him to come back to her since she is feeling cold and lonely. She repeats the phrase "let me in-a-your window" twice, which shows how desperate she is for his warmth and presence.

The writer admits that she has been away from Heathcliff for too long and needs to make things right by coming back to his side. She refers to Heathcliff as her one dream and only master, emphasizing his importance in her life. She ends the song by once again pleading with Heathcliff to come back to her and let her in. Overall, the song portrays the intense and passionate love between the two characters in the novel, highlighting their struggles and inner conflicts.

Vejo os comentários e não entendo, como que o povo não consegue apreciar uma Obra sem menosprezar outra e vice-versa. Seja na versão com Kate, André ou Tarja, são ícones e cada um com seu toque. Espetacular os 3.

@CarlosLokus

Exatamente quando ouvi a versão do André imaginei ela cantando e vim pesquisar. Que felicidade ela ter nos apresentado a versão dela. Exatamente como imaginei belíssimo! Perfeito seriam os dois compartilhando o palco.
