Explode
Animal Sun Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Kick up the dust from an empty street
Believe in a hope that the blind can see
Make up a smile that will hide your grief
For it's demons past that the sun will shine
Your battered scars will fade with time
Lost in the thought that we're not alone
We explode, we explode
The city lights will blend with exhaust
Between the crowd again we are lost
And once again we're leaving home
To make believe we're not alone
Stretch beyond like the ocean shore
Reaching up forevermore
We explode, we explode
We explode, we explode
Running from the day that we break
Standing arm and arm we patiently await
To explode, to explode
We explode, we explode
(Feed the fire fighting for control in your soul)
We explode, we explode
(Feed the fire fighting for control in your soul)
We explode, we explode

I think not touching any dead things no matter where you find them is a pretty solid rule for life.

Here's my personal experience with exploding animals. Growing-up on a working farm, one gets to see some carnage, but not always death. Like delivering calves. Gruesome, but not necessarily bad. When I was 8, I used to play in a massive culvert at the end of one of our pastures. As usual, I would run-down the pasture and hop-off a little hill, jumping-down into the dry river bed. Well, on that day, after jumping-off said hill, much to my surprise and horror, in my landing spot lay a dead, bloated heifer. I speared directly into it's center. At first, it was just warm, as I penetrated to the ground on the other side. Then there was a short pause, then a hissing sound. When panic set-in, I tried to spin myself around, hoping to climb-out, back up that small hill. As soon as I moved, it exploded. Like a geyser. It went up into my nose, into my mouth. Needless to say, I cried the entire run back to the house, with bits of rotten heifer guts dripping-off me. My mom was in our back yard and apparently could smell me coming because when I got to the gate, she yelled, "Stop!" and immediately hit me with the hose. She laughed and gagged. I cried and puked. It was probably our most precious bonding experience ever. Lol

I can think of very few experiences that sound more traumatizing than what happened to you.
