As a young man he listened to blues and French chanson: Tom Waits, Bo Diddley, John Lee Hooker, Billie Holiday, Édith Piaf and Colette Magny. He also listened to a lot of rap.
In the spring of 2005, he released his first album with the studio "Gang" in Paris. This album contained autobiographical and sober lyrics. The music is a mix of his soul, reggae, and blues influences.
The television station France 2 chose him as the Singer of the Summer in 2007; the channel regularly showed videos of Cergy, Intégration, and Avec le Vent.
In April 2008 Anis returned to the studio and opened his blog.

La Trentaine
Anis Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Anis's song La Trentaine reflect on the feelings and thoughts of a man approaching his thirties. He questions what he has done with his life so far, acknowledging the years he has spent drinking and smoking. However, he does not cry about it. Instead, he speaks with passion, admitting that he sometimes feels like a fool, but he is not tired.
The phrase "C’est pas des larmes juste de l’eau salée / Qui piquote les yeux et donne l’air de pleurnicher" (They are not tears just salty water, which stings the eyes and makes it look like we are crying), implies that the singer may have shed tears before but chooses to hide them now. He feels like he is surrounded by foolish people, but he does not want to give up; instead, he wants to breathe and dance.
The song's overall message conveys that although life can be challenging, we must remember to enjoy its simple pleasures, such as dancing and breathing, and to pursue our passions with determination. The song is a celebration of life and a reminder to seize the moment and not let life's struggles hold us back.
