Anita burst onto the dance scene with style in 1997 winning the UK's coveted MOBO award for her first album with Sunship, an album on which her vocals were described by 'The Face' magazine as 'soulful and rich'. The second album yielded the massive club hit 'Try Me Out' (another Kelsey vocal & co-write) which was an Agia Napa anthem of 2001 and marked Sunship out as one of the UK's seminal garage acts culminating in their mix of 'You Bring Me Flowers' reaching number 1 in the UK national charts.
She collaborated on three of Dorado label-mate Matt Cooper's Outside albums at around the same time, which were much more leftfield albums and offer a much more intimate, deep and ethereal side of her writing and vocal work.
Further commercial success came a year later for Anita's collaboration on D*Note's Shed My Skin (Pete Tong's record of the week) which steamed into the top ten in both the UK & US dance charts and topped the Belgian dance charts at number 1. The track entered the Belgian national charts, staying for 22 weeks, peaking at number 4 and has so far been featured on more than 40 compilations worldwide.
Other collaborations followed, including the track 'Clouds' with Grammy nominees The Latin Project, Signum with 'Come Around Again', Cor Fijneman with 'Healing' and 'Colourless World', Bluefish (aka Evolution) with 'Been Too Long', Memento's 'New Life' and various other releases worldwide. Her two tracks on last year's Markus Schulz album 'First Time' & 'Travelling Light' are some of the best work to date from either artist and have been received warmly by fans & jocks alike.
Anita is also approached on a regular basis by labels and producers to write for other artists such as Virgin signing 'Lost Witness' whose single 'Home' was co-written by Anita and performed brilliantly by Tiff Lacey.
As well as being a full-time writer (signed to BMG Music Publishing) Anita is also featured on many TV productions, commercials and feature films. Major sci-fi cult blockbuster Dark City sees American actress Jennifer Connelly miming to Anita's voice in 2 prominent scenes as well as the Kelsey rendition of 'Sway' being featured on the end credits. Other major films featuring Anita include Bring Me The Head Of Mavis Davis, Long Time Dead and Merlin.
Her own project ToyShop with partner Gordon Hulbert gained recognition in 2004 with their single 'Million Miles' being voted Top Tune in IDJ Magazine/Sure Player in DJ Magazine and was supported by prominent DJ's such as Pete Tong, Pete Heller, Timo Maas, Pete Gooding and others. The track is included on Defected's Café Mambo 10th Anniversary compilation. Anita's recent track 'Every Kiss' on Extrema Records also featured a ToyShop mix, and an eclectic mixture of original material is currently being crafted lovingly by the duo into a ToyShop album.
Anita has just released 'Satisfy' with Airwave under the guise of 'Velvet Girl', as well as new material with Hardsoul, René Amesz and TDR, 'Never Ever', with an exciting, varied and surprising (not forgetting X-rated in some cases!) take on her songwriting. Be sure also to listen out for soulful house track 'Good Lovin' by Ashman and Perky with vocals by Anita on Armada's Fame imprint.
The Night Has A Thousand Eyes
Anita Kelsey Lyrics

Though you say it isn't so
But if you put me down for another
I'll know, believe me, I'll know
'Cause the night has a thousand eyes
And a thousand eyes can't help but see if you are true to me
So remember when you tell those little white lies
That the night has a thousand eyes
'Cause the night has a thousand eyes
And a thousand eyes can't help but see if you are true to me
So remember when you tell those little white lies
That the night has a thousand eyes
Anita Kelsey's song The Night Has a Thousand Eyes is a tale about a lover who is being warned by their partner about the consequences of not being truthful. The lyrics convey the message that even when one is not being watched, their actions and words have consequences. The song captures the idea that there is always someone watching, whether it be the night, the universe, or a higher power, and one cannot escape the truth being revealed.
The first verse begins with the accusation from the partner that the singer is a "runaround lover," someone who is not committed to their relationship. In response, the singer denies the accusations, but the partner warns them that their actions will eventually be revealed by the night, which has a thousand eyes. The chorus reiterates the idea that the truth will always come to light, even with a thousand eyes watching.
The lyrics suggest that one should always be truthful and sincere in their relationships because dishonesty has a way of surfacing. The song serves as a reminder to the listener that there are always consequences to their actions, and the truth will always come to light, whether it be from the night's thousand eyes or another source.

After listening to both songs, I think Jennifer's voice fits her character the movie. She has more pained vibe and a lack of certainty in her voice. Alita's voice I think would be "better" if graded on an academic scale though. I guess I like them both for different reason.

we just discussed this film in class and someone made the point that in the original cut we here connely's voice because the point of that character is that she doesn't have the voice of a lounge singer, just the memories of one.

A wonderful version of this song from a great show. The words from the title weren't used in the version in the film. I was cut off early, so it took me some time to work out what it was.
@Mattology1
I like both

This is a pretty pedantic point to make, but the picture in the video is actually from the scene where Jennifer Connelly's character is singing Sway. That said, this song is great. Love it!

This version is superb, i very much appreciate it. but to be honest, Jennifers version surprised me (i knew this song before watching the movie), i enjoy Jennifers to Anitas, she conveys a stronger feel to it. Isnt there a longer version, or complete one from J.Connelly? I just had the pleasure to watch this movie piece, fantastic work, and a strong symbolism, on one's own identity.

I always had the impression that she and the rest of the population was tired. With the Aliens testing them 24/7 and having little to no rest.

i just listened to this song while i watched the movie for the first time , and i got in love with this song , i thank you 1000 times for posting it . amazing song <3

I agree...they should have let Jennifer sing in the realeased version...but I have to admit...Hearing Anita's voice and seeing Jennifer's eyes had me interested in watching the rest of the movie! I have to say, Anita does have chops...
@conatcha
Jennifer sings in the Director's Cut Version. In the theatrical version sings Anita but the versión from the movie and the soundtrack (I've got it) are slightly different.
