Rainy Day
Anjali Lyrics

Feel the moon-spill drift to silver grey
Would like to feel the sun, but it's too late
On this rainy day
For my heart still beats
In the crowded streets, its solemn beats
Echo solitude as distant peaks
It's like the sun was never mine
It took away the silver lines
On clouds that broad into the mind
And throw it all away
And the grains of time
Repossess me and all mankind
A fragile entity that breathes inside
On this rainy day
It's like the sun was never mine
It took away the silver lines
On clouds that broad into the mind
And throw it all away
It's like the sun could never see
This life that breathes so endlessly
A mellow daze that captures me
And throws it all away
On this rainy day
Anjali's song "Rainy Day" is a melancholic expression of longing and loss. On a day with grey skies and rain, the singer contemplates the absence of the sun and its warmth that she yearns for. The opening lines create a vivid image of the moonlight transforming into the color silver, setting the tone for the rest of the song's ethereal mood. The singer's heart beats solemnly, standing out in the crowded streets, reminiscent of distant peaks, as she feels a profound sense of solitude that washes over her and robs her of her peace.
The song continues with the repetition of the line, "It's like the sun was never mine, it took away the silver lines," hinting at a lost love or a dream that once was but is now gone. The clouds that broaden into the mind symbolize a mental state clouded by memories and thoughts that hold the singer back from moving forward. The grains of time that "repossess me and all mankind" exemplify time's relentless march, and how it takes everything with it, including moments, memories, and experiences.
The final verse of the song repeats the same lines from the beginning, adding a sense of cyclicality and endlessness to the theme of loss and longing. The mellow daze that captures the singer is a reminder of the fragility of life and the need to find beauty in the present moment, despite its fleeting nature.
Overall, "Rainy Day" is a poetic and introspective song that captures the complexity of human emotions and experiences.
