Ever since fronting the art-pop indie heroes Velvet Belly throughout the 90's, ice-cool electronica adventures in AM and the UV, numerous recordings, live performances, film & TV themes, special guest appearances …it´s been a long, but worthwhile journey for fans of this remarkable chanteuse!
Of her debut solo album "The Siren And The Sage" (+47/Warner Music) released in 2007, Esquire Magazine had this to say… "Sweetness multiplied, sadness tripled, her music brings you a closer step to heaven...as fantastic as sharing the last cigarette with the one you love".
Since then, three outstanding albums, "Blue Sky Blue", with it's "Himmelblå" theme song to the record-breaking Norwegian tv-drama series flying high in the charts over here in Scandinavia.
Then came "Memory Lane", featuring Danny Thompson (Pentangle, Nick Drake, John Martyn, Kate Bush, Talk Talk), mixed by none other than John Wood - the producer who brought the world such classics as Nick Drake’s ”Pink Moon”, John Martyn´s ”Solid Air”, and most of the seminal Island records catalogue of the early 1970's.
2018 saw Anne Marie returning to her more folk-tronic/indie roots with the critically acclaimed album "Lightshadow", more tours and applause!
Anne Marie Almedal will return in 2022 with a new album "We Dance Alone". First single & video out now!
Trouble
Anne Marie Almedal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To myself
Just like you
And I sense the shadows
Fall from grace
As I touch you
Falling once again
Tripping out on your love
Trip it as you come and go
And we will be in trouble
Out on a storm-tossed sea
And we will lose ourselves
As we hold on to each other
And now from the sound of the world
It was coming through
To remind me
No I can't stay here for long
But I can't be without you
Strung out on this feeling
Falling once again
Do we really need to know
How this will end?
´Cause we will be in trouble
Out on a storm-tossed sea
And we will lose ourselves
As we hold on to each other
Yes we will be
Yes we will be
Out on a storm-tossed sea
The lyrics of Anne Marie Almedal's song "Trouble" seem to relate to a sense of secrecy and danger in a relationship. The opening lines, "I keep the secret/To myself/Just like you," suggest that both parties are holding onto something that they are unwilling to reveal. The next lines, "And I sense the shadows/Fall from grace/As I touch you," create an ominous atmosphere, implying that there may be something dangerous or illicit about the relationship. The repetition of the line "Just to have this feeling/Falling once again" adds to the sense of danger, suggesting that the singer knows that what they are doing is risky, but is unable to resist.
The chorus of the song ("And we will be in trouble/Out on a storm-tossed sea/And we will lose ourselves/As we hold on to each other") suggests that the danger will come to a head, perhaps in the form of external pressures or obstacles. The metaphor of a storm-tossed sea implies that the relationship will face a great deal of turbulence and instability, but the singer is willing to face it because of the intense connection they feel with their partner. The final lines of the song ("Yes we will be/Out on a storm-tossed sea") repeat and reinforce this sense of impending danger and risk.
Overall, the lyrics of "Trouble" create a sense of intense emotion, danger, and uncertainty. The singer seems to be deeply invested in their relationship, even as they acknowledge that it may not end well.
