Annette recorded her first song, "How Will I Know My Love" in 1958, after first singing it in a scene on The Mickey Mouse Club. Thousands of people called the studio wanting to buy the record after the episode aired. It was soon followed by "Tall Paul", "First Name Initial" and "Pineapple Princess", along with many others. During these early recordings, musician & producer Tutti Camarata developed the famous "Annette Sound", a method of double tracking her vocals for a richer, fuller sound, a process still widely used today. It was in 1959 that she made her big screen debut in Walt Disney’s "The Shaggy Dog", her first of several Disney films.
In 1963 Annette starred in her first non Disney movie alongside Frankie Avalon in "Beach Party", the first of many in the iconic Beach Party series. She appeared in The Monkees' 1968 film, Head, and later, 1987's "Back To The Beach", which would ultimately be her last role. Annette's then recent diagnosis with multiple sclerosis and the symptoms of the disease would prove too difficult for her to continue acting. She hid the diagnosis until 1992, going public to correct rumors that her impairments were a result of alcoholism.
In 1993, she opened the Annette Funicello Fund for Neurological Disorders, to help find a cure for MS. She made her last public appearance in 1996 on an episode of “Biography”, about her life. After 15 years outside of the public eye, and nearly 25 years of battling the disease, Annette Funicello died on April 8, 2013 from complications of MS.

Well I left so fast that I even forgot to pack
Well I called my baby on the telephone
Told him to meet me at the station, 'cause I'm coming home. Ya Ya
Woo woo, shovel more coal in the fire (wooo wooo...wooo wooo)
Well I'm coming home..home to my desire (wooo wooo...wooo wooo)
Well I miss him so, how much you'll never know
Oh my heart keeps beatin', beatin' away
It seems to tell me.. It seems to say
Get right home, just as quick as you can
Into the arms of your loving man
Oh the train of love keeps a movin' on down the line (wooo wooo...wooo wooo)
Well on the locomotive there's a number ninety-nine (wooo wooo...wooo wooo)
That's for ninety-nine kisses I'm a gonna give
And ninety-nine hugs and we're gonna live. Ya Ya
Oh my heart keeps beatin', beatin' away
It seems to tell me.. It seems to say
Get right home just as quick as you can
Into the arms of your lovin' man
Oh the train of love keeps a movin' on down the line (wooo wooo...wooo wooo)
Well on the locomotive there's a number ninety-nine (wooo wooo...wooo wooo)
That's for ninety-nine kisses I'm a gonna give
And ninety-nine hugs and we're gonna live. Ya Ya
That's for ninety-nine kisses I'm a gonna give
And ninety-nine hugs and we're gonna live. Ya Ya
That's for ninety-nine kisses I'm a gonna give
And ninety-nine hugs and we're gonna live. Ya Ya
The lyrics of Annette Funicello's "Train of Love" describe a woman who is taking a train back home to be with her lover. She is so eager to be reunited with him that she forgets to pack and calls him to meet her at the station. The train symbolizes the unstoppable force of their love for each other, hence the repetition of the phrase "the train of love keeps a movin' on down the track" throughout the song.
The chorus of the song features the sound of a train whistle and the lyrics "wooo wooo," which adds to the train motif of the song. The woman expresses her love for her man and her excitement to see him again, promising to give him "ninety-nine kisses" and "ninety-nine hugs" when they are reunited.
Overall, "Train of Love" is a romantic and upbeat song that depicts the power of love to overcome distance and time.
