In a rich man's world
Everything she'll do
She'll do for you
He's a monster mash
Living on fame and cash
Badly spoiled
Some might say just give it up
There's no more hope, no fair
Move the limits
Ooh wake up the animal in you
Some might say just give it up
There's no more hope, no fair ?
Move the limits
Ooh wake up the animal in you
Girl, can't you see?
Come on now, set him free
Try open up his eyes
And make him realize his misery
He do not care
Sittin' over there
Get up, stand up now
Wake up the animal inside of you
I think it should be inside
The lyrics of "Anniemal" by Annie speak about a young girl who lives in a wealthy and privileged world, where everything she does is for the benefit of others. On the other hand, there is a man who is a product of the music industry, has become famous, and has become spoiled. Despite his wealth and status, he is miserable and trapped in his own life. The chorus urges them both to wake up the animal inside of them and move beyond their limitations. The girl is called upon to set the man free and make him see the truth of his situation.
The lyrics are a commentary on the music industry and the toll it can take on artists who become famous and rich. Despite outward appearances, they may be feeling lost and trapped in their own lives, just like the man in the song. The song encourages them to wake up and find their true selves, to break free from their limitations and the expectations of others.
